"That's good," Omaha said joyfully, then turned and trotted after Belle. "Yeah, you're right... They don't need us spying on them or anything." He followed her with his tail swishing, then settled down under the branches of a tree and promptly started to doze off again, his lower lip hanging limp as he slept under the shelter of the tree happily, not concerned about anything else in life.
Chris stiffened a little when she kissed him, at first, but then his trepidation seemed to melt away and he put his arm around her shoulders quietly, withdrawing a little just to marvel at their closeness and the faint electricity of nerve endings sparking happily where she touched him. In answer to her statement, he returned her kiss happily, breaking off only a little reluctantly. He had always learned, in the good old Southern tradition, not to be too exuberant in his public affections. "So, what now?" He teased lightly, stepping back a bit.

I loved the touch of his lips on mine and the closeness. Everything had turned out great! The two horses had gone to stand underneath a tree, I would have to see Belle later. "Well the doc, said you have to eat so how about we go to the house and I'll make pancakes and bacon, with scrambled eggs on the side if you want. I'm really hungry, didn't eat breakfast either. I kissed him once more waiting for his anwser. Oh today was a day of firsts! My first kiss, my first boyfriend, and my first time to cook in ages!

"Sounds like a plan," he said, grinning as she kissed him again. He actually kinda liked that part, he had to admit, and when she turned for the house he caught up with her quickly and took her hand, twining his fingers in hers happily. "Yeah, I'm pretty hungry, too, now that I think about it. Stupid how pain pills you have to take with food make you lose your appetite, though." He said peevishly. He was still a little pale and his fingers trembled slightly in hers, as if he wasn't really feeling quite on top at the moment. He had no doubts that some good food would perk him up, though.

I smiled harder, if that was even possible then, squeezed his hand. "Yeah well your going to eat weither your hungry or not. Your not going to pass out and scare me again! You know that we have to tell Rae that your here? She probably wondering why she has two extra horses around the place." I shuddered remembering the terrifyed feeling I had just recently felt. "It's been a strange couple of days huh?" I asked him as we entered the house. I headed straight for the kitchen and started to cook.

"Don't worry, I agree with you completely. No more passing out for me," he said with a little chuckle. At her other statement he shrugged a little, but looked worried. "Yeah, that's true. It can wait a bit, though... And I guess it's better to ask forgiveness than permission in any case." He sighed at little - he really had to find a job soon, especially now that he had committed himself to Stevie. He was practically broke - just had enough savings to get himself from place to place and eat whenever he could do so. He chuckled at her question. "You can say that again." While she cooked, he settled down a stool near the counter, looking delighted as the smells of real food reached his nose. He hadn't had a home-cooked meal in years, even if it was only breakfast. "Smells heavenly."

"Thanks. Don't worry I explained a bit about the fire but I don't know how much. I can't really remember anything after putting the horses in the pasture." I was done cooking a fixed up a couple of plates. "Dig in! I'm starved!" I started to eat careful of my table manners. I thought it was pretty good for my first time, I was just thankful that it wasn't burnt. I laughed almost to myself at the thought.

"Better than me. I don't remember anything after getting to the hospital," Chris said with a grin, looking almost faint with happiness at the smell of actual hot food. For a moment he looked as if he were going into a swoon again, but he recovered from that quickly when the plate was placed on the counter in front of him. "Thank you," he said with a grin, almost reverently, and then did commence to "dig in." He hadn't realized how completely starved he'd been until there was actually food in front of him - the stuff he'd gotten at the hospital the night before was far from good, or even palatable. When he was done, he went and rinsed his plate and stuck it in the dishwasher. "I feel much better now."

"Yeah well I wouldn't blame you. I know that I kinda went to sleep but anything else is like a blank. Mmm. Yeah me to. Chris I know it's kind of early to move in together but how would you like a ranch of our very own? There's a ranch for sale that we could more than likely afford. It has room for all the horses and any other animals we want. I'm thinking about getting a dog soon so yeah1 What do you say Chris? You like it?" I said excitedly. We were moving fast on everything but hey why not?

Chris smiled a little to himself as she started blabbing again. He really liked how talkative she was, it set off all of his own silences and pauses, all of the uncertainties that he did not want to voice. However, at her words he looked up, somewhat nonplussed. "Uh," he said, trying to sort out everything that had just gone through his mind. "This is a little... soon... isn't it? Besides, I thought I just explained that I have nothing. I mean, literally," he fished around in his pocket, "I have three hundred dollars." Then he shut up, and just stared at her for a long moment with a thoughtful expression. "It would be kinda nice, though... And I do love dogs..."

"I know it's fast but normal couples wait to have their first kiss after their first dates, I guess. Unless you call riding in a fire a date?" I teased. "Yeah having a dog would be nice and well you have nothing but I got a lot from Belle and Lightning's purses but probably only 12,100. Enough to pay for everything. We're in this together Chris no matter what." I said quickly. Hmm yeah I would like a pup around the place. That would be fun. It could even play with the new foal! I was so excited about well everything!

"Well, then, I guess I owe you a first date, huh." Chris said teasingly, since his initial surprise had faded away. He listened to her next words carefully, seriously considering before he answered. Honestly, he did want to have his own place for Rebel and Omaha's sakes, and he could hardly resume his vagrant lifestyle now. After all, his trailer was only for one horse, and he certainly couldn't leave one of them behind if he had to leave. It would give him something to do, as well, although he supposed he'd have to train barrels and all those other things that he hardly agreed with. There were not going to be any horses that only knew how to turn left on his watch. "You're right. We are in this together." He said, by way of letting her know that he was up for it after all.

"Maybe not." I teased back laughing. Then I became serious again. "So your up to it? Moving unpacking and all that?" I said. My eyes gleamed with pride. "What should we name it? We can't just call it the ranch." I loved him. Oh I really did love him but he had taken a long time to say it!
