"Yeah he is a big baby but his knees are closed enough where he can race every now and then. If I waited until he was three, he would have been driving me bonkers. He just couldn't wait. I raced Belle at three but she doesn't have that major instinct to run unless it's a race." I rubbed the stallions forehead. Yeah, my little boy who won't stop running. Lightning tossed his head and put his tail up, he nearly jerked my arm off and I knew he was ready to run. "Ow you little brat!" I said teasingly, giving him a firm tap on the nose. I released his halter. "Go on you pesty little feller." You could tell by the tone of my voice that I was only half kidding. Lightning tossed his head and ran off circling the pasture again at almost top speed. "He's a show off if you couldn't tell. You wanna go now?" I asked.

"Seems a little hyper, huh?" Chris asked, leaning on the fence and putting his hand back down, just looking at the horse. He had ridden his own two year old, that was true, but that had only been for like... five minutes, and he wasn't planning on racing Rebel or anything like that - certainly not any time soon. He winced as Stevie's arm was jerked up with the halter, thinking about how his own arm had been dislocated the night before. That had been horrible - only being able to use one arm... Nonetheless, he watched with a grin as the colt galloped around the pasture - he sure was a speedy little devil. "He's a funny colt," he said with a grin back at Stevie. He shrugged at her question, as if it didn't matter to him one way or another. "Sure, let's go." He said, grinning and starting to walk towards her truck.

"A little? I say alot, though he's mostly just showing off. Yeah he is." I said and just to prove my point he came near the fence and reared, snorting and rolling his eyes in mock terror. I laughed. "Yup he's my silly boy." I walked after Chris. Alright here we go. I opened my door and got in. Then I started the engine. "Let's just hope I don't get lost", I laughed and drove up the drove way.

Chis laughed at the little stud's antics, watching as he darted all over the pasture. "Rebel could use a lesson from him... Lazy boy that he is," he said with a chuckle. "Oh, yeah. I guess I didn't tell you about him. He's my fat little butterball of a mustang... 'Bout Lightning's age, I'd say, but of course no one's really sure how old he is." He got in on the passenger side, wincing a little at the effort of stepping up. Really, he would have driven only he didn't want to stress himself any more than absolutely necessary. "I wouldn't worry about it. It's not a big town, anyway." He said with a grin.

"Yeah well too bad we can't put them together. They might fight though I think Lightning would run him to death though." I laughed. Lightning had cheered me up greatly and I had forgotten most of my worries. A few minautes later I pulled up at the coffee shop and parked but didn't get out. "So what now? We arrived safly." I laughed and opened the door slightly. I wonder what would happen now.

"Probably true. That little colt of yours could outrun him any day," Chris said, watching through the windows as they drove through the town. Stevie wasn't freaking out this time, so that was good. Although his head had started to hurt... quite a lot, it fact... So he pretty much stayed quiet for the rest of the ride, thinking. He'd been thinking too much lately - it wasn't good to worry or have stress or anything, but he supposed that it was normal under the circumstances. When they reached the coffee shop he felt grateful, though he didn't exactly know why. He took of his seat belt, opened the door, and started to climb gingerly down from the truck...
Suddenly, a lightning bolt of pain ripped through his head and his ribs, and he felt his vision darken instantly. Fireworks burst behind his eyelids as he slumped to the ground in a sudden faint, clattering to the ground in the middle of the parking lot. His head hit the pavement and began to bleed a little, then even more. But he couldn't feel anything considering he had just passed out.

"CHRIS!" I yelled. No, what happened?! What was wrong? I need to get help fast! I panicked. Then fumbled with my cell phone, calling 911. I went to Chris and knelt by him. "Chris hang on, help's on the way. Oh Chris stay with me! CHRIS!" I sobbed in full blow panick. Oh god what was happening? I saw people gathering around us and heard the ambulances siren. "Helps here... please be okey. Please!' I was crying and in shock. I had no clue what was happening, my vision was blurring and someone was trying to calm me. Everything was happening so quickly...

Chris felt himself sinking deeper on into the blackness, chasing it down through himself as he went slack on the pavement, red blood beading down his pale temple, matting his hair, staining the tar and concrete. He heard Stevie's voice as if in a dream, far away from himself. Why was she shouting? All this blackness was really quite peaceful... Then, the feel of her hand, just brushing his disembodied bodied. Sirens blared, lights beat a tattoo on the inside of his eyelids. The police? No... The hospital! He couldn't go back there, that just wouldn't do... Ah... but being unconscious was kind of nice. It dulled the pain in his head and his ribs... All the same, his soul was bobbing back into view, and his pale eyelids fluttered, his whole body convulsed as he awoke, breathing quickly through his nose, slightly panicked now. He looked around, but his vision was hazy and his head hurt like hell.
He couldn't make out the face of the paramedic above him, and he looked around hastily until he recognized Stevie's silhouette. Why couldn't he see right? The paramedic was fishing in his pocket now, which he didn't really like, but all the same it paid off because a shadowy hand withdrew, holding a little bottle of pills - pain medication from the hospital. "You didn't eat anything before you took these, did you?" Came the voice, deep, gravelly, but somehow far away as if he was speaking through a tube. Chris opened his mouth to say something, but no words came. The paramedic turned to Stevie, "He'll be alright, he just needs some water, and some food, and probably some brains, too." another paramedic was pouring water down his throat already, practically drowning him, and he turned his head to the side, coughing as the water kept streaming over his face. Well, that woke him up, at least.

Oh god Chris! I felt like slapping him for the heart attack he just about gave me but I didn't have the heart to do it. "You idiot. You didn't read the directions did you." I said lovingly. He was my idiot though. I bent down and whispered in his ear. "Hey idiot I still love you. Though you practically gave me a heart attack. DON't EVER do that again." I sighed as he started waking up. "Now what are we going to do with him?" I said to the paramedic. Oh what were we going to do with him?

"Well. Maybe not," Chris said weakly from the ground, where the other paramedic had stopped trying to drown him. A little bit of color was returning to his face now, and he smiled a little as she bent down to talk to him. "I love you, too." He whispered in her ear, then put his finger to his lips, not wanting her to say anything else until they weren't surrounded by people. The first paramedic, the one in charge, reached back into his bag and took out a rather large band-aid, which he put on Chris's head where he had cut it.
"That is what I'm going to do," the paramedic mumbled, obviously trying to keep from laughing. "It's no use taking him to the hospital, because we're pretty much full at the moment and it's not a super emergency or anything. You, however, are going to take him inside and make sure he eats something and drinks plenty of water." The paramedic smiled benevolently, and then packed up his things and left in the ambulance. Chris watched them go, relieved that he didn't have to go to the hospital.

Oh my gosh! He said it! He finally said! I grinned like I was crazy and felt like screaming it to the world! Then I burst out laughing as the paramedic put a large band aid on his head where he had cut it. "I'm sorry and definatly. I'll keep a real close eye on him." I smiled at Chris and said "Did you learn a lesson today?" I couldn't resist, I was so happy. Oh I soo owed Belle one! "Let's go home now, Chris." I wanted to do something but it had to wait until we weren't surrounded by people, if only they knew why I was so happy! They were looking at me like I was crazy or something but only Chris and I would know. OH this was an INCREDABLE day!

Chris grinned at her, a little sheepishly and chastised. "Yeah, I guess I did. Dunno what it was yet, though," he said. He supposed it had just taken a good knock to his head to set his brain straight about things once and for all. As he looked at her, he knew that what he had said was true, or at least that he thought it was true. Even though his head and ribs hurt, he was pretty sure about his footing now. "Alright. We'd probably better. But you're going to make me breakfast now, right?" He was joking, a little, but he was hungry now that he thought about it. Probably a bad idea not to have breakfast after all. He had stolen the paramedics' water bottle, and sat up on the curb now, his vision swimming for a moment before he drank some more water, then the world came back into focus. He stood up and climbed back into the car, looking over at her with a little smile.

"Maybe it's always read the directions and something else. Yeah I'm a pretty good cook." I climbed into the truck, waved at the crowd that was now breaking up. I drove away quickly eager to get back to the farm and the horses. Soon we arrived at the ranch, I couldn't say a word I was too busy thinking about things.
I whinnied happily as Stevie's truck pulled back into the ranch. I had just woken up and knew that something was wrong and yet something was right. "Omaha wake up there back!'' If I wasn't so stiff I would gallop crazily around the pasture with joy.

"Good enough for me," he said quietly, looking over at her and the way the light framed her face. For a moment he was seized by the insane urge to kiss her here and now, but that probably wouldn't have done good things for her driving skills, so he checked himself and looked out the window as the pastures came into sight. He saw Belle standing up painfully, and again felt a stab of regret mixed with gratefulness to the mare. When the truck stopped he hopped out on impulse and went to the fence. "Thanks, Belle. I guess you helped me in more than one way, huh?" He said, looking at the mare as Omaha lifted his head and cantered across the pasture happily.
"...Hey! What happened? Chris is all pale and he smells like blood," Omaha said, looking worried, but then he noticed his owner's mood and how much it had changed. "Belle, something strange is going on here. Do you notice anything... different about them?"

"Yes you silly! He obviously bumped his head or something and relized he was in love with her! Stevie's so happy!" I could feel it as she came to the fence too. I nickered at Chris's comment and then turned to Omaha. "Let's go. They don't need a chaperhone, even if it's just their horses. Hint, hint." I turned and started to walk away.
I grabbed Chris gingerly and kissed him, right there right then. I pulled away, laughing like a lunatic. "Oh Chris your other lesson is don't keep your emotions bottled up! It's okey to let them out! I love you!" I was so happy! Today was an amazing day!
