The pines that enclose this area create protection for the mares that come here to give birth and the stallions that can come to visit their foals right after. The pine needles from ages of seasons create a comfortable bedding, along with the grass and other things to create it more comfortable. Inside the confines of the trees are not many more to keep an open space so no predators can hide. No other horses are allowed except the sire and dam and, of course, the newborn.
