Rowan took great gulps of the country air, jaunting along down the road with a smile on her face. Sherlock stumbled and trotted along at her heels, tongue lolling out happily, droopy eyes shining as he rolled along from leg to leg, folds of skin flapping happily with the motion. He, too, seemed imbued with the joy that was the day, with it's combed clouds flat against the dome of the covenant, the peeping sun that poked through here and there, the backdrop of hesitant birdsong, the raucous crow (no doubt giving some farmer a hard time). Fat ponies grazed happily out in their pastures, although if Rowan had been paying attention she would have realized that every so often they raised their heads warily, sniffing the moisture-heavy air, and that the feathery clouds were starting to accumulate above. The storm was about to break, but Rowan wasn't paying attention to that.
Her thoughts were focused ahead, on the pasture in which she knew stood a brown gelding and a cremello mare and, with any luck, her new friend, Kyle. She had basically invited herself over here, of course, but he hadn't seemed at all offended by that, and had practically asked for it. Sherlock's ears were notched forward now, in apparent recognition of the place. Rowan grinned down at him, inclining her head slightly to watch the happy little dog roll on and on. He was not worried about the pressing storm, so content was he to just come along at her side anywhere. He was really a very good little hounddog after all, even if his scent of smell was sub-par and his ears were too long for his body. Presently, they drew up to the fence, and Rowan squinted into the distance. "Kyle, are you out here?" She called, not too loudly, but the space was so open that her words would travel.

The wind blew slightly and with it the scent of rain was carried on the currents of the wind. Surprisngly enough, Kyle was laying in the grass some aways away from the fencerow, staring up at the sky. He usually didn't daydream like he was doing at the present moment, but he was so bored that it drove him crazy. He didn't know where Jason and frankly he wasn't worried about his beloved cousin's location, he just wanted to look at the sky, smell the grass and...He stood up from where he was laying and stood up, dusting his tattered blue jean off (that was his style apparently, amazingly he bought them like that) He had heard the voice of a girl not far off, he looked around and he realized that the voice belong to Rowan. He waved to her and walked over to the fence. "Hey! I wasn't expecting you to come" he said smiling

Rowan, who hadn't noticed Kyle sitting in the grass, grinned when she caught sight of him, waving unnecessarily. "Well, I said I would, didn't I?" she said, frankly, clambering over the fence to stand beside him. She wasn't even about to try and jump it, no matter what stupid long-legged Kyle could do. Not that she thought he was stupid... "Besides, you look bored... again. I'm surprised that you were actually out here!" Sherlock wagged his tail in a friendly way in the direction of Kyle, his tongue rolling over his front teeth in a doggy sort of smile, before himself crawling under the fence and waddling in a circle around his feet, sniffing his shoes. Both of them seemed completely oblivious to the fact that it was threatening to rain, a fact which Rowan certainly wouldn't have been happy about. She was not overly fond of wet weather, although she liked to watch storms as long as she was not out in them. Sherlock, who seemed to have realized that he had met Kyle before, trotted back over to Rowan and sat down on her foot. "Sherlock!" she said, laughing, as the dog shuffled to the side to correct himself, looking up apologetically with his big, baleful basset hound eyes.

Kyle smiled as he watched Rowan climb over the fence "Yes you did, but it must have slipped my mind" He laughed at Rowan's next statement "I am usually bored when I am out here, and besides it looks like its going to rain soon"[/b] He looked up at the sky as the dark rain clouds started rolling in, he turned and looked at the horses in the pasture, he figured he would have to take them into the barn, sooner or later, and he really didn't feel like because he knew his evil mare would not want to go inside when she didn't feel like going into the barn. Kyle watched as Sherlock sniffed at his shoes and he laughed at the short hounddog.

She chuckled, "Well, surprise!" she said in jest, grinning from ear to ear. Her expression faded into one of vague worry at his next statement, as she glanced up at the sky nervously. "I didn't notice," she said truthfully, "...I don't much like rain, you know..." At Kyle's laugh, Sherlock sat down in front of his feet and looked up, head cocked to the side and tongue lolling out in a laugh of his own, baleful eyes twinkling merrily. Then, quite unexpectedly, he sprang up and chased his tail in a few circles, letting out a little woof as he did so. Rowan laughed heartily at this, gladder than ever that she had rescued the little dog. However, now that she had noticed to weather it seemed to have made her mood more oppressive, and her smile, although she was actually fairly happy at the moment, was a little distracted.

Kyle smiled once more "You know you don't have to stay outside. You could always come inside" He said with a life he didn't want to be outside when it rained either. He absolutely hated getting wet. Although, he use to work out in the rain day and night, when his former job required to do so, but now he tried to avoid rain as best as he could but most of the time he ended up in rain anyway. He sighed at the thought of getting rained on.

At this suggestion, Rowan smiled again, brightening up considerably, "Could I? Only I don't much like getting wet..." As if on cue, a little growl of thunder ripped across the now ominous swollen clouds overhead. the light had shifted suddenly, casting everything in darkness, and the wind had picked up and was whistling along innocently through the grass. "Do you want me to help you get the horses inside?" She asked, looking over towards them, her smile faded but still present, knowing that she wouldn't have to run home in the rain. Not that she'd expected him to make her stay out here in the first place, but still it was comforting to know that she wouldn't get too wet.

Kyle smiled at Rowan "No, I can get them in myself, you can just go on inside" He looked at in the fields and he saw that luckily, the horses were waiting near the barn to come inside anyways It shouldn't take too long" He said simply as he started to walk of to where the horses were present and he ran up to the barn, opening the doors. And he watched as the horses walked right on inside the barn. He closed the barn doors behind him as he got the horses settled into their pens.

The rain had started falling, then, and so she didn't refuse him. "Alright," she said, as a single droplet fell onto her glasses, and she squinted up at the sky, before moving along at a quick walk up to the house. Nonetheless, she stood still under the overhang above the front door until she was quite sure that he had gotten the horses in the barn, and continued to stand there and wait. For some reason, it felt as if it would be a little strange to just walk into the house without him there, perhaps that was just her usual polite reservation coming through. Sherlock, who didn't mind the rain much, sat panting near her ankles, watching Kyle.

Kyle quickly put the horses in their correct stalls and fed and watered them. He made sure that they were okay before he left the barn. He was a bit upset that it had started raining, but he didn't care at this point. He walked over to where Rowan was standing "Okay, thats over and done with" he said smiling at her "Now, I think we should go inside" he said soon after as he held the door open for her.

Rowan grinned at him as he drew level with her. "I agree," she said, a little too hastily perhaps, walking through the door. Sherlock looked at her uncertainly for a moment before she looked back at him, then trotted on through the door after her. She didn't unhook his leash, however, knowing that the first thing he would do would be to meander around sniffing everything, and, being such a klutz, probably knock over something expensive. As she moved further in she looked around in appraisal, smiling, "I like your house." She said, finally, looking back at Kyle. Sure, it was simple, but it was nice, and it was really a home, which she found quite endearing.

Kyle walked into the door and closed the door behind him. He could hear the rain beating down on the roof outside, but at least he wasn't in the rain anymore. He didn't care that he was wet from the rain, it didn't bother him now. Being in the rain is what bothered him. He smiled at Rowan "Just sit down somewhere if you want to" He said as he sat down on his couch and turned on his laptop

Rowan sat down near the window, staring out at the gathering rain, watching the flickers of light dance across the clouds from distant lightning. Sherlock sniffed the ground for a few moments before settling down with his head on his paws and giving a great, groaning sigh, looking around with his great droopy eyes. Rowan watched the storm for a few minutes before letting her gaze wander around the room, not really settling on anything but subconsciously memorizing every detail. If she left this room now, she knew, and didn't return until she was eighty years old, she would still recognize it, unless this house was gone. She was good with names and faces, good with details. She'd always been the chorus in Romeo and Juliet because she remembered it, even now, years later, word for word. The clouds rumbled and growled with thunder.

As Kyle played around with his laptop, he was looking at horses and cattle for sale, which he really shouldn't be doing because he would get chewed out for buying anything later, he had a tendecy to buy things, just to buy things. After a few moments, Kyle looked over to where Rowan was staring out of the window "You must really like the rain, since you are staring out of the window looking at it like that" Then he went back to looking for things on his laptop, it was so hard to buy new things such as horses or cattle there was always something better on the market the next day and so on. He had already bought the palomino Mustang stallion from the sales and he hadn't even broken in that horse yet let alone bothered to get it used to him. He figured that he would just let the horse get used to being around people first because it really didn't look like he liked Kyle, not at all. Kyle sighed as he closed his laptop. The golden stallion had literally humiliated him that day, after awhile he looked up and watched as Rowan looked around the room, he wondered for a few moments asking himself why she was looking around the room like that

"Hmm?" Rowan looked back at him as he spoke, having been zoning out almost completely. "Oh... I like to watch it. I don't like to get wet, you know?" she said vaguely, tearing her eyes away from the motion of the rain in the corner of her eye. One corner of her mouth was pinched in a little smile, although her eyes were unfocused, clearly thinking about something else. Rain always had a dampening effect on her mood, made her quieter, sadder at first glance although she was quite happy at the given moment. Nonetheless, she made an effort to rally, looking at him with her head slightly to one side, her arms crossed lightly against her chest, fingers of one hand tapping distractedly against the opposite arm. She had noticed his gaze as she looked around the room, but offered no explanation simply because there wasn't really a good one. She sensed innately that it was a little strange that she had been memorizing the room, noticing the little things like the way that the paint encroached upon the ceiling every so often, or the way the light cast shadows across the floor in a pretty way. She opened her mouth as if to speak, but realized that she didn't know what to say, and looked away again, back out at the rain through the window.
