Hooves barreled down the path as a Hanoverian stallion carrying a girl. For once she felt free, freer than she had in a while. Abby was getting herself lost among the wildlife, the trees, the fresh air, everything. Slowing Rudolph down, she looked over her shoulder, a little anxiety attacking her again, making sure her ex was not following her. The bruises were almost healed, but the injuries to her emotionally weren’t. They still ached and they still stung, and the dreams that kept her up at night were worse than ever. But this was the daytime, when she could get away from all that. She tilted her head up toward the sun, letting the few rays that could escape warm her skin.
It had been a couple weeks since she got away, and it was becoming less and less as a fear than anything else. But just the anxiety, the thought that once she let her guard down, he would be there again, or worse, she would find a guy just like that again, she did not know how she would survive it. Patting Rudolph on the neck, she said, You’re my only boy, let’s try to keep it that way. Bending down, she put her face in his mane as he kept walking, stepping over the sticks that protruded out onto the path. A breeze played with her blond hair that was in a ponytail, and her gray eyes were bright, this time with happiness. They had been dull most of the time. The only physical remnants that reminded her of what had happened day in and day out was the cast. She knew the doctor said no riding, but what he did not know would not hurt him. She let her feet come out of the stirrups and dangle as they kept walking. Rudolph’s ears kept turning from side to side, always on guard and at attention for any danger that may approach, human or otherwise. [/blockquote]
