Name: Ginger
Show Name: Takes Two to Tango
Age: 5
Gender: Mare
Breed: Appaloosa
Height: 15.2 HH
Physical Description:
Ginger is certainly a brightly colored little mare, a mottled snowcap appaloosa. Her main coat is chestnut, from which she derives her name. She has a pretty head with a long muzzle, but is fairly stocky and does not have extremely long legs. Despite this fact, Ginger can go very quickly when she wants to, and has great, big, springy gaits that have surprised many a rider. Her canter is like a rocking horse, however. Ginger absolutely loves to jump, even though she's not built perfectly for it, and she can clear some decent sized fences at times. She's a spry mare, and still with plenty of mischief in her despite the fact that she's not as young as she once was.
Personality:
Ginger sort of takes after her name, at least with other horses. She is snappish, quick to temper, and prone to nip at them and try to boss them around. She's definitely a confident, dominant little lady if ever there was one. She takes a superior air with most others, and is somewhat narcissistic. She's a good riding horse, though, and takes pride in her work. She knows how to baby-sit and is very good with young or un-confident riders, although she will try to push some buttons. She hates having her girth put on, and has been known to run the occasional fence out of excitement. She is extremely fiery and has a lot of spunk, but is completely bombproof and doesn't spook at anything. She never refuses a jump that is fairly given to her.
History:
Ginger was given a fair start at life and had a pretty average history. As a young mare she was broken to English Pleasure, but seemed bored and was sold to a teenage girl who wanted to school her in Hunters. Ginger did fairly well at this for a while, and won a couple of local shows. However, as time progressed her owner grew tired of her and needed a horse with more potential and who could progress onto higher-level fences. So Ginger was put up for sale, and it was Rowan Steele who eventually bought her. She seems fairly happy in her new place, and has always known human kindness and compassion.
