Name: Devan
Show Name: Sympathy for the Devil
Age: 4 years old
Gender: Mare
Breed: Quarter Horse
Height: 15.2hh
Physical Description: The length of her body, combined with smooth lines makes Devan seem like a tall horse, though once you're standing next to her, you see she is only about average. Some of the thick stockiness of the Quarter Horse breed is absent from her build, though her conformation makes it obvious. She is sleek and graceful and her color is absolutely gorgeous. Different from the typical palomino, she has a dark gold coloring with vivid dapples, and darker spots on her nose, cheek bones and under her eyes around her white stripe. Instead of white, her mane and tail are more cream, and three white stockings decorate her legs.
Personality: She is a little complex to describe. There are times when Devan can be sweet and cuddly, and others where she is fiery and crazy. Stallions do not impress her in any way, except for perhaps a select few. Sometimes she can get along with other equines, though there are times where she will play viciously with the other horses on the farm.
History: Raised on a breeding farm, her mother was an older mare, Devan being the last foal she would have. Her father was a fiery cremello stallion, one that barely tolerated the presence of humans. Her mother on the other hand was the sweetest mare on the farm, constantly cuddling up to anyone she encountered. Hence her mixed personality. She was trained vigorously as a three year old to the disciplines of Western Pleasure and cutting. Only when she is under saddle in these tasks is she perfectly well behaved. She was shown a few times, and won blue in every one. But there were too many fillies and colts her age, and she fetched a good price, bought by Edward Jansen for his stable.
Discipline: Western Pleasure, cutting.
