Finally a couple weeks and I was bored out of my mind. I finished grooming Spirit and dropped the brush in the box, his pad and barrel saddle were shinny and clean at least for now it all fit so nice on him, the little silver accents complemented his golden coat. I knew he could feel the excitement from me which made him quiver as his headstall went on and I un clipped the cross ties. Leading him out to the outdoor arena he prance along side me, I had the barrels set up already we walked in and I mounted flexing him to the right and the left. I had left the gate open for a reason it would be were we would run in from, I warmed him up first before trotting him around the barrels a couple of times before trotting him out of the gate. I lined him up and kicked his sides we shot off heading for the first barrel, bring his nose around he got down low and got close to the barrel but we did not knock it down we raced to the next one, dust was every where as we went around the second barrel still close but not to the point of knocking it down, one more boy he seemed to sense it and picked the speed up a little more, his hind getting deep and finding the level he needed to just make it around barely, kicking him and using my reins we raced to the gate. I slowed him once outside and patted his neck, that’s my boy patting his neck again I turned him around as we started the pattern all over again.

I smiled a little as I hummed a bit, grooming Sweets. It was about time I got her out of here. Today she would have to put up with me, and Spirit if Sammie felt like coming. Brushing through all the dust, I watched as it all fell off. Under this gentle girl, I knew there was a lot of energy. And a lot of longing. For the one that we both loved to be back here. To be the one riding her, and not the other way around. I miss her too. I whispered, kissing her neck before brushing through the mane a little bit. Finally, when it looked like she would shine, I tacked her up in her western saddle and a hackamore. I wish I could use one of these on Fuego, but I wouldn't stay on long enough to actually get a ride in that way. Walking her out, I looked toward the arena, seeing Sammie on Spirit. Ah yes, they were going. Sammie was finally better, and I was happy. Good thing too, I was so tired of doing all the chores and waiting on her hand and foot. Just kidding of course. Mounting up, I clicked to her and we walked toward the arena. Pulling her up at the fence I watched as they went around once more. Hey maybe once you're done with that you two would like to join us for a relaxing ride to Bluegill Lake... I let the sentence hang, stroking Sweet's neck absentmindedly.

As we finished I saw Pablo there I slowed Spirit early which he did not like and bucked to show it, Easy boy there’s no reason to be a brat. I patted his neck and he snorted. Trotting over to them I thought about his offer, then smiled coming out of the arena making sure to keep him away from Sweets, shutting the gate I backed Spirit just a little bit sounds like fun of course we would join you. I patted Spirits neck who still seemed upset about the whole having to stop early, he turned his head to look at me, when we get back you can have a treat but that means you have to behave. He pricked his ears forward and sighed like he agreed to it. He turned to eye the mare and I shifted the reins to make him tuck his head in keeping his mind on work and not on the mare, flexing his head to the left until he gave and then to the right, I let the reins lose at least he would have an idea of what was going to happen if he lost focus, I waited for Pablo to talk or just lead the way.

You two look good. I complimented, nudging Sweets into a walk toward the trails that would lead to the lake. I made sure to stay calm and be myself around Sammie, at least until now. I moved some of her mane to the side, trying to keep it all uniform and on one side, moving her into a slow pace, it felt so nice and comfortable. I didn't want to strain her too much just yet, she wasn't used to any type of work. I chose Sweets for this occasion because I thought that maybe Spirit and Sweets would get along marginally better than Fuego and Spirit. Maybe making it a nicer ride and day for all four. The meadow was gorgeous, and would have been perfect for a race however I knew there would be no way that Sweets would be able to keep up. The mare hardly paid attention to the stallion, making sure to follow my cues. What are you doing with Rain and Pandora, how are they coming along? I asked, trying to keep the conversation light.

Thanks I spoke, I nudged Spirit into a walk he fell into place along Sweets and minded his own he did not even give one glance toward her, I smiled, Im working with Rain and the Elliana is working with Pandora Rain has also put on quite a bit of weight and is starting to look like a normal horse I think a couple more weeks I might be able to start riding her and possible Rain might even become a lesson horse. I cued Spirit for a slow jog which he picked up nicely and still kept near Pablo and Sweets. I was wondering what we were going to do once we got to Bluegill lake but I did not want to ask him, instead I enjoyed the silence between us and waited to see what he had in mind, I relaxed completely knowing that Spirit was relaxed and behaving, sighing I waited.
