Frost padded down the winding trail, her paws making only a slight rustle as she set them gently on the dead leaves left over from winter. She couldn't smell humans, and she wondered if she had gone in the wrong direction. She had wanted to avoid the middle of the city, with all the buildings and cars zooming by so fast. She didn't like cars. She'd seen a cat get hit by one once. It had been horrible. The collie shuddered, her ears flattening against her head. Here was better than a place with cars, she was certain of that. Still, she felt so alone out here. No humans, no other dogs, nothing. The pretty blue merle dog had left her uncaring former owner on her own, hoping to find someone who wouldn't care whether she was a show dog, or some sort of canine-genius. She was smarter than a lot of the dogs she knew, but she just didn't understand how humans seemed to expect dogs to understand the garbled whines and barks that came out of their mouths. Dog language was so much simpler. She gave a yipping laugh. She had a feeling humans didn't understand dogs any better than dogs understood them. But she was determined not to give up. She'd find herself a proper owner, eventually. Sighing, she continued down the trail.

(hope you don't mind if Eddie finds her :])
Chester, what? Achilles! Get back here! Chester, no don't chase him! Edward's shouts echoed back at him through the trees. Damn animals! Achilles, spotting a squirrel, had gone crashing through the woods, after the small grey rodent. Winchester, startled by the movement, got excited, dancing on the trail, trying to follow the dog companion through the clustering trees, even as Eddie held the springy stallion back to a restrained trot. Achilles came crashing back, pure joy written on his face, and resumed his position beside Chester, just off the trail so he wouldn't get kicked by a stray hoof. A smile crossed Eddie's features, and he loosened his reins, giving Chester a little kick, sending the brindle stallion into a fast, smooth canter, saddlebags barely jostling. Achilles, excited by the run, put on a burst of speed and ran ahead of the pair, tail up and ears pricked. It was then that he caught a scent further up the trail, a dog, female. Instantly he slowed, nose to the ground as he followed it, listening behind him for any command of Eddie as began to catch up to him. It wasn't long until a figure came into view, the source of the scent. Achilles stopped, watching her for a moment before trotting forward. Eddie caught up to his canine at that moment, hair windblown from the run. He, too, caught sight of the unknown dog, and also Achilles, who was moving closer. Achilles! Wait. The sand and cold hued hound stopped instantly, though he whined, and let out a small bark before looking back at Eddie and whining again, tail wagging slightly. Eddie shook his head before allowing Chester to move forward into a walk until he was even with Achilles. Dismounting, he paused between his two animals, one hand on Chester's reins and the other on Achilles' large head, watching the pretty collie dog, a Blue Merle by the looks of it. He was intrigued, and wondered where it's owners might be. The three of them made no moves, though Achilles was itching to greet the unknown dog, waiting to see what the stranger would do.
