A lone mare stood out in the pasture, close to the barn. She was a little cross, and he dark banner flicked irritably. Fireworks felt a bit ignored, for Pablo had not come to see her or ride her since he had returned home. Sammie was not her person, though she was a very kind human who had taken care of her while Pablo was gone. But she wanted her person.
Fireworks stood near the barn, hoping to catch Pablo's attention while he went about his duties. She wanted to work, not just laze about in the pasture, eating until she was fat and running only when she felt like it, and only in the pasture. Irritably, a dark dagger shot out to connect with the fence she stood alongside. Someone, please, give her some attention!
Raising her head, Fireworks let out a high-pitched squeal. Turning her roaned and spotted frame, she went charging along the fence, kicking up shod and grass as her dagger tore the ground. She continued this for a good minute or so before coming to a halt in the place where she started, breathing a little heavily as she waited to see if she had caught anyone's attention.

Pablo felt bad. He did not mean to ignore Fireworks. He came back, and well, all of a sudden things just went crazy. He was dusting off her tack, making sure that everything was still in good condition. Taking them out toward the crossties, he piled them there where the brushes already were. Walking out toward the pasture, he watched as the mare started tearing up the pasture. Chalking it up to anger, he continued walking down there, his posture relaxed. Leaning against the fencepost a few feet away, he did not want to completely approach her, wanting her to approach him instead. I’m sorry Fireworks. He said softly, glancing over at her before back to staring across the empty pasture. I didn’t mean to completely toss you to the side. [/blockquote]

Fireworks snorted and danced for a moment as Pablo came to the fence, agitated. But his soft voice made her stop and stand quiet for a few moments. There was no way she could stay mad at him, especially when he sound apologetic. She gave a toss of her head and snorted, standing off to the side for a few more minutes before walking quietly over to where he stood against the fence. Sticking her roan head over the top bar, she reached out to nuzzle him, apologizing for her fit.
Dark banner flicked. The anger was gone, but the agitation was still there. She was impatient and edgy, and wanted to run and jump, to work essentially. It had been too long, and she was beginning to feel fat and lazy, and that did not suit her personality. Roaned head bobbed in impatience, and her spotted frame shuffled from side to side, waiting for Pablo to lead her out.

Pablo didn’t mean to ignore her. He had already decided there were too many horses on the ranch between the two of them, so he was trying to sell Fuego to a good home. But then again another thought in his mind was to send him back down to New Mexico. He knew that his family wouldn’t try to break his spirit, but they would keep him exercised and going. That left Fireworks, Flit, and Sweets. If he was to send Emily back down to New Mexico with her mom, he would send Sweets down there with her. He didn’t want to tear the two apart again. Feeling the nuzzle, he was brought back out of his thoughts. He smiled as he watched her. Okay, okay, I get it. An apology is not enough. Grabbing the lead line that was beside him, he walked to the gate and let himself in. What do you think, trails or arena? Another thought went through his mind. What about just around the pasture before taking her out and about? But no, she was too full of it, and he didn’t need to take the chance of falling off. He clipped on the lead line. What do you think, hmmm? It’s your decision. He led her toward the gate, waiting to see if she actually gave any reaction or sign of an answer or even any comprehension. [/blockquote]
