"To find it floating in my static dream,
Most autumn mornings could be described as crisp, and this one was no exception. The slight chill chased away the muggy heat of summer away and warned of the winter that barreled closer. A black and white striped cardigan was draped carefully around a feminine figure, complimented by a long sleeved black shirt and blue jeans. Brown leather jodphur boots putted gently across the arena's terrain, legs wrapped in black half chaps that were tight against her calves. The person belonging to said legs was a slight figure at 5'2", boasting shockingly pink hair that was peeking out from beneath a riding helmet. Clutched in her hands were a pair of ribbed reins that were hanging from the bit of a bridle, of which was fastened on a large, long head that belonged to...a draught horse? A Shire, to be more specific. A mare of a bold black coloring with white trimmings, feathers silky and untangled after a meticulous grooming session. This finely bred specimen dwarfed the human girl in an almost comical way, for it stood at eighteen hands high.
Just sing it,
Obviously, they were an odd couple. It was baffling as to why someone of her stature would even be mounting a draft of that size, though she did it so easily. Little jumping bean! That girl didn't even need a mounting block! Swinging her right leg over the saddle, Kai Werner centered herself out with a slight shift, rotating her ankles before sliding her toes into the stirrups. The Shire waited patiently beneath her, lower lip drooping adorably as her head bobbed, dozing off as if that would get her owner to neglect to remember how to ride. Uncomfortable with the length of the stirrups, she slid one foot out of the stirrup and swung it up, resting her calf on the mare's wide shoulder as she pulled on the stirrup leather. Dropping the reins to adjust the leathers, she was pleased to notice that the mare didn't take the opportunity to put her head down, which would probably mean bye-bye reins until she dismounted to recollect them. Sliding her foot back in, she decided that she was pleased with the length and looked around before fixing the other one. She hadn't seen a soul around since she had gotten her an hour and a half ago, which was odd to her. Her new mare, Lujza, and her had only been here for a week and a half, and it was usually quiet. Kai wasn't used to a placid atmosphere at a boarding stable, it just didn't seem natural. Oh well, someone would show up eventually, right? She'd just focus on riding today, then! Propping her other leg up, she began to adjust the other stirrup leather.
Sing it."

He didn't exactly have an exact clue as to why he was at Cedar Creek, though he didn't think it really mattered either way. He felt like looking at the different ranches around town today, seeing as he had only heard of them and not seen them. He arrived at Cedar Creek moments later after his immense thinking and got out of his quarter ton Ford. This ranch surely was gorgeous, he had to give the owners that after all. He didn't see any activity right off the bat as he walked around the property. No he wasn't an intruder, he was a, how do you say, visitor He looked towards the outdoor arena, happy to have seen some life around the place A smile appeared on his face at sudden sign of life. He walked slowly over to the arena then stopped in his tracks a bit of a ways away. Yes, of course he had noticed the huge black draught horse. The horse was pretty and all, wonderful horse...wonderful horse. Though his gaze had drifted towards the huge horse's rider. A full out grin appeared on his face, but it was good natured, nothing more, nothing less. He approached the arena again and watched the horse and rider. They seemed like a perfectly matched pair, perfectly in sync with one another. A content sigh left him as he dragged his emerald gaze back to the rider. He looked at the draft horse every now and then but clearly she wasn't as interesting as...He shook his head, the horse and rider were both exquistely interesting. Seeing as he had never seen a draft, of such a massive stature, in person before.[/blockquote]

"Even though I've never said the words,
Sliding her other foot back into the iron, Kai collected her reins loosely, legs squeezing as firm as possible against the draught's barrel. Head bobbed up in protest before remaining erect atop the naturally arced teck, ears pricking forward at the sound of approaching footsteps of a human. Naturally, with her rider completely focused as to not allow her mental...instability to distract her while atop such a massive beast, she did not realize she had an observer. Syncing herself with the larger equine was natural for the woman, as she had grown up riding a Shire back in Germany. Oh, those were the days...Okay, don't get distracted! Relaxing as they finished a few walking laps, Kai encouraged the mare into a trot. It took a bit more leg for the horse to respond, but when she did, it was like magic in her opinion. Power, grace, the thundering of hooves, and this was just a trot. Imagine this creature galloping.
Don't fake it,
Rising and falling with a quiet seat, Kai Werner checked and rechecked her diagonal, making sure she was correct. A few more yards, and she felt herself start to anticipate too much and over post. Sucking in a deep breath, she calmed her seat once more, circling the Shire to move in the opposite direction. Lapping at a steady trot, with a bit of good natured smooching and clucking, a few times, she shifted her weight and applied a bit of pressure to the reins. The surprisingly soft-mouthed mare instantly responded, lumbering into a halt within seconds, tail twitching at a particularly nasty fly. Letting the reins slid between her fingers, she held onto the buckle in the middle with one hand, giving the mare her head. With her other hand free, the pink haired rider decided it would be a good time to fix the pesky bra strap that had slid down without her permission. Halfway through fixing it, she happened to look up to scan her surroundings. Kai froze almost instantaneously, hand resting on her collarbone, eyes widening in surprise. When had that guy shown up? Spacing out for a minute, she snapped out of it and ripped her hand away from her shirt, a blush dusting her cheeks as she looked away from the man, having stared at him a bit too long.
No more."

He watched the rider ride her mare at a trot. Such fluid movement for such a massive creature! Even the rider had a excellent seat on the huge black equine. He mentally noted that he himself probably could never have such a quality of control and elegance over such a beast. Technically, he thought an angel had fell from heaven and landed on a pegasus. But that was just him daydreaming. It wasn't a good idea for one to day dream, though he did it alot when something out of the ordinary popped up. The Shire moved like a champion, a champion of champions. A smile lit up his face once more as he continued to watch the act of the dynamic duo, as he now mentally came to call the pair. Dynamic duo indeed. One would want to cast out a 'bravo' to the liquid movements of the horse and rider. Nothing could compare to such an elegance. Although his good natured smile faltered slightly when he realized that the rider had noticed him, in the most peculiar of events. He guessed she must have thought it strange of his random apperance, but he wasn't bored anymore right? He looked away for just a moment before looking back to the rider. "That is a fine equine you have there." He finally spoke, his voice laced with Australian accent. He had given up on trying to hide his strong accent, seeing as it was too hard trying to talk normally nowadays. Giving up the fake American pride[/blockquote]

"To find it floating in my static dream,
Curses fluttered naughtily in her mind as her nervousness passed through her to Lujza, the Pferde taking a few steps forward of her own accord, bringing them closer to the man. Licking her suddenly dry lips, Kai stood in her saddle, stretching out her leg and pushing her weight into her heels before easing back into the saddle. Lujza eyed the male up curiously, heavy puffs of air piping out of her nostrils toward him in an ignorant snort. Fingers twitched lightly, reins jerking just the slightest bit in a scolding to the mare for being rude. That just wouldn't do, would it? The first signs of humanity and it wasn't some stranger from the gas station! A small smile flitted to her face as she heard him begin to speak, eyes flickering from studying him and her horse's mane, which had suddenly became interesting.
Just sing it,
Ah, an accent? She perked up almost immediately, eyes brightening as they stared a moment longer than usual. "Danke sehr." She spoke greatly, the German 'thank you' rolling quickly off of her tounge. Noticing her mistake, she quickly mended it. "I mean-thank you!" The blush deepened as she bit her lip, slightly self-conscious about her heavy accent. Though she knew English rather well, she had never been able to rid of the accent. It was a little piece of home that never went away, it would seem. The smile returned, this time sheepish as she stroked the thick neck of her best friend. "I am sorry that I did not acknowledge you earlier. I was distracted." Her words were spoken slowly as to articulate each syllable correctly.
Sing it.."

His eyes watched the horse and rider for a few moments though he hardly noticed the rider pulling the reins of the mare. Seemed just the slightest change of rein could correct the mare in where she has gone wrong. He was silently awed at that fact that he had come to assume. But of course each and every equine could have a mind off its own, so he wasn't exactly surprised. What was that? Danke sehr? What was that? He thought for just a few short moments. It was German! He was just about as happy as dog when its owner home. She was german! He calmed down shortly after when he heard her speak again. What was she thanking him for again? The thought had clearly slipped his mind, then he remembered. Oh I had commented her horse, right. He smiled at her again "Oh no need to be sorry!" He spoke again "I myself was distracted by the exquisite riding of you and your companion" He continued as he looked to the draft horse once more. Okay, he was mostly distracted by the rider than the horse, but he wasn't going to say that. She would think he was insane then, which he was not His mind drifted back to the recongization that she was german. German german german! He didn't feel quite as bad for being Australian around these parts, but that wasn't his point or train of thought. [/blockquote]

"Even though you've
Her smile widened, revealing her straight, white teeth as she laughed at his comment: thank god for braces and Mutti's teeth brushing drills, hm? Dropping her stirrups, she leaned back and swung her right leg over Lujza's neck so she was sitting in the saddle like a chair. The equine's ear twitched in response, bottom lip drooping once more as she cocked a hind leg, using the time to be lazy. It was quite easy for Kai and Lujza to bond. It was actually almost instantaneously! As soon as Kai had seen the Dreamhorse ad online one morning as she was net surfing on her laptop, she'd called and rushed over to the farm where she was bred, born, and raised. The two had been all over each other from the start, linking their souls together the first time Kai layed a hand on the mare's forehead. It had only taken a few days of riding after trailering Lujza to Cedar Creek to understand each other better undersaddle, though they still had a lot of hard work and mistakes ahead of them.
Never said the words,
"Thank you, thank you. We still have a lot of work to do, though." She admitted easily, scratching her friend's crest lovingly. Looking down at the man, she took a moment to ponder over his accent. It was definitely not British, so it must be Australian. It kind of bugged her when people mistook the two accents, because it was like saying her accent was Russian-which it was not! Not that there's anything wrong with a Russian accent, she just wasn't Russian! She had a Russian friend back in Germany though...Sevda. Yes, she had such a fun accent. And she was terrified of Flocki, Kai's first Shire gelding that she began riding when she was eight. Oh, sweet Flocki, how she missed him...Wait, wait. Don't get off track now. "So, er...I haven't you around here before?" Not that she'd seen many people anyway.
I feel right now."

He had never seen a person sit in a saddle like that before, then again maybe he had. He wasn't too sure, he was still in a bit of present-time awe. He pondered for a few moments. The thought of the shire equine rising in his mind again. But of course the thought slowly slipped away without a moment's notice ahead of time. The horse was all good and dandy and such but... Soon enough he realized that she had spoken again "Really?" He asked another look of surprised passed over his face "To me it looks like you've been working with that horse your entire life" He finished. And he spoke the truth. It was a rare sight to see a horse and rider in sync like the pair that were in the arena now. Many people treated their horses like complete beasts but he could tell that this young woman treated her horse friend as a companion, and thus making them in sync as he had mentioned before. He shook his head in response to her question "I guess not, seeing as I have never seen you before either"He started "You must be a new face around these parts" Well of course she was a new face. Angels just don't up and appear...do they? He was getting distracted by his thoughts again. His concious needed to shut it and stop telling what he was doing wrong, but then again maybe not?[/blockquote]

"Now I've gone this far anyway,
To me it looks like you've been working with that horse your entire life. Blushing in pleasure, she pat the mare's hindquarters, smiling brightly at the male. "I've owned her for a week and a half. She's such a doll to me. I like to think that we get along splendidly." Indeed, they did. They were both similar: bold and defying. Lujza was a massive yet feminine animal that radiated power and grace. Kai was a petite twenty-year old with loud, pink hair, yet was shy and undeniably mad. They contrasted with their outward appearance, and took solace in each other's differences. They'd probably be sisters if Luzja was a human. "Ach, ja. I am new here as well. I only moved to this area a little over a year ago, and I decided to settle in before I bought another horse. I was in the country two years prior, but then had to go back to Germany."
And I finally turn to my last page,
Dragging her thoughts toward the man, a million things ran through her head at once, sounding much like Heitwhatyouthoseeyesbrownisthe-all a combination of each sentence. Wincing at the sharp pain it brought, she refocused her eyes, studying the defined male features. The hair, jaw, chin, broad shoulders, toned body, his face... "Du bist sehr hübsch.” She muttered softly before pressing her lips together, eyes widening as she realized her slip-up. How did she manage to not catch herself before she said that!?!? Clearing her throat, she slid off of the saddle, feet hitting the ground with a thump. A sharp pain shot up her legs, causing her to stumble forward into the arena fence, hands catching the top rail to steady herself. That was a farther drop then she thought it would be.
These countless memories still holding me back."

He smiled at her words. It was somehow easy to tell she was a new face in the small town. Mainly because it was indeed a small town Everyone knew everybody. Everybody knew everyone. Though it sounded quite strange to discuss such a matter. He listened to her short history. "Oh you've been here longer than I" Indeed he had been here for quite awhile, though he had the motives of a nomad He liked the aspect of traveling, though he had gotten a bit lazy the present year so he happened to stay in this town, not wanting to go anywhere else. He heard something German. He wasn't exactly experienced in the language of Germany, so he didn't have the full idea of whatever she had muttered. He might have caught half of it, but not the total said word. He shook his head slightly then his emerald eyes widened as he watched her stagger to the arena fence. Once again he wasn't surprised that it was a long way down from a horse of that stature. His hands rested on the fence rail as looked at her "Are you alright?" He asked curiously. Was that concern in his tone? Concern? Yes concern. Couldn't be. Could it? Indeed for a short moment, concern passed over those emerald green eyes of his. Of course, he was a friendly person who worried for many a person. But the situation was strange. Very strange indeed. Though what stranger wouldn't show concern? Certaintly not this stranger. Maybe it was a hallucination of some sort. I think not.[/blockquote]

"Am I sick?
"Ja, I'm fine. I just wasn't expecting that to be such a long way down." She attempted to ease his concern, bouncing back to her senses quickly. It was a weird position to land in, considering she slid off without using anything to balance on first. Oh well, her feet would get used to it. Straightening up to remove herself from the fence rail, she unhooked her helmet strap, the plastic piece tickling her neck as she flipped the reins over the equine's head. Giving a quick rub to the mare's sweet spot, also known as her forehead, she fixed the mare's forelock to get it out of her adorable, almond eyes. "Gut Luzja." She cooed softly before pulling gently on the reins, leading her toward the gate. Unlatching it, she maneuvered the huge horse through carefully before locking it.
Not anymore.
Towing Lujza toward this new stranger, she racked her brain for something to say. He was the first person she had met so far, so she didn't want to end their meeting so soon. Stopping a few feet from him, Kai was suddenly shoved forward by a bullheaded move by the Shire, stumbling forward once more, helmet toppling off of her head and allowing her wavy pink hair to tumble down to her lower back. Responding instantly, she caught her schooling helmet, spinning around and forcing the horse to back up a few steps. Allowing her to stop, she looked in the mare's eyes with a glare. It was almost humorous because she had to tip her head back to look at the mare who had thrown her head up upon an arched neck, the equine's eyes studying her in amusement. "Das war nicht nett, Lujza!" Kai scolded briskly before giving into the mare's sweet expression, kissing her soft muzzle. Turning back toward the male, she chuckled embarassedly. "It seems that I am stumbling quite a bit today. Tch...My name is Kai, by the way. Kai Werner."
How could I be tonight?"

Could anyone expect the way down from a Shire? Who knows. He watched as she took of her helmet then led the mare out of the arena. Don't let me wake up from this wondrous dream He thought to himself for a minute. But of course it was not a dream, how could it be? It was the old saying, pinch me I'm dreaming! Although, it was easy to tell that this was a common word known as r-e-a-l-i-t-y. Reality was nice. If felt like you were dreaming. Another wave of surprisement went over his face as he watched the woman scold her mare. Well the mare was indeed a horse, and horses did strange things, all of the time. He managed to laugh, that is once he stopped being in his little dreamworld and dragged himself back to reality. If he had been a dog, he would probably be begging and drooling. Nevertheless, he smiled when she introduced herself. "It is a pleasure to meet you Kai. I am Kyle Currington" Introuductions were just...wonderful. Oops, he was back in his dreamworld again. Reality where have you gone? Oh come home reality![/blockquote]

"To find it floating in my static dream,
"Kyle." She repeated with a bright smile, memorizing the name and his face. "Well, Kyle, it seems you are my first acquaintance in this small town. I'm very glad that I met you!" Tilting her head shyly, she leaned back on the Shire's chest, folding her hands, reins still in hand, in front of her. Okay, now what? Her gaze drifted to stare at a tree far beyond his shoulder as she mulled over her thoughts. His laugh had been nice...Today turned out to be a good day. She finally met someone and got in a good ride before noon! Usually, she didn't get to make it up to the barn in the morning because she either stayed up too late and didn't wake up until lunchtime, or she had work. She worked out of town, about an hour away in a small vet clinic and kennel. She was just a kennel assistant, so she didn't get paid much, but it helped pay the bills. She also had a load of money from an inheritance and her previous exchange family, who loved her like their own.
Just sing it,
"So..." That broke the awkward silence, and just make it more awkward. She didn't know what to say due to her lack of social skills, especially with guys. Kyle seemed pretty nice, though. Kai obviously thought he also looked nice, especially after she made that comment. Honestly, it was not like her to outwardly call someone handsome! At least he didn't seem to know her first language, so she was in the clear for now, thank god. Deciding that it was growing a bit too warm after that ride, she slipped off her cardigan, draping it over the saddle for safekeeping.
Sing it."

A grin shown upon his face revealing his teeth. Such a good natured smile. He listened to her words though he really couldn't think of anything else to say. The silence, was a bit intimidating What was there to say? Oh there was a million and one things he could say but he knew that the woman known as Kai would probably throw something at him. After a while he simply shrugged. Kyle at a lost for words? Was it the end of the world? The apocalypse? What was going on? His gaze had wandered to the ground then he looked back up at Kai when he heard her speak again. "I must apologize, I am at a lost of words" Yeah he was at a lost of words alright. He was in utter awe even now. Such a shame that he was still walking on sunshine He was just waiting for her to bade him away and never to return. AKA reality.[/blockquote]

"Even though I've never said the words,
Nope, she was not good at this at all. She couldn't think of anything to say. What should she do? What are you suppose to do when you first meet someone? Ah! Kill her now! A stricken look paled her face at his admittance, immediately trying to figure out why he was at a loss. Naturally, being rather self-conscious, she began to worry at her hair, twisting a lock nervously with a slim finger. Curse her shockingly pink dyed hair! It was giving Kyle an eyesore! "Oh...Sorry if you're bugged by my hair. I just...uhm.."
Don't fake it,
Though her hair color always brought up awkward situations, comments, and glares, she always kept it these colors. A neon pink that faded to a soft pink occasionally before redyed once more, sometimes mixed with black and/or white. It just matched her mentality: crazy. Nope, she wasn't all quite there. To think about it, did she take her pill this morning? Yes! She remembered she took it before she left, and the water bottle was still sitting in the cup holder in her car.
No more."
