Tinkling laughter echoed throughout the forest as leaves danced around the legs of a Palomino mare and a bunny scurried into hiding. A misstep, and the bunny had gone into seclusion. Daggers danced across the ground as a harsh wind blew the flaxen tendrils across her body, fiddling with her sense of touch as they tickled and teased, slapped and scratched. The sun made art within the blackest escapes where only predators would dare to hide. Earthen hooves stopped for a second, twin harks circling around, almost apprehensive of what they could be hearing before the fine-boned mare went on her way, letting the Earth choose her path rather than she do it. Her long tail flowed behind her as her smooth gait never missed a step around the trees and roots. Diverted route took her where her tinkling laughter melded with something else. Water. She stopped just short of it, maw dipping toward the ground to take in the sweet nutrients of the grass that in just a short time they would be missing. Steps were taken toward the creek before she met the cool depths and took her fill greedily. Muscles were taut underneath the Palomino canvas as she lifted her tiara, listening to the sounds, making sure danger did not prey upon her today. Windflower was sometimes too cautious, but rather that than one’s meal.
Not like her mother. Her mother had not been cautious, and because of that…there was so much blood. Everywhere, it seemed. Windflower did not remember much besides that, actually. The color red had been splashed all over the day. She was just a foal then, just a babe who did not know about the evils of the world and why someone would want to take away her mother. Then it was a tragedy that would affect her for a few months while she tried to comprehend. Now she knew it was just the circle of life. She accepted it, although she would never forgive the heinous beast for that day. A crack of a stick, and she was instantly tensed, ready to spring forward, either to run in fear or fight valiantly. The morbid thoughts of that day haunted her expression some, but she waved it away. She was here for a new life, and this was just one of her stops. Permanent? She did not know. For all she knew she could just meet an acquaintance and be on her way. Each day was a new adventure, and she held onto that knowledge fiercely. [/blockquote]
