^^ Image of Me and my horse at a barrel race ^^
Name: Kahlua
Show Name: Kahlua Gold
Age: 6
Gender: Mare
Breed: Quarter Horse/ Arabian
Height: 15hh
Physical Description:
Kahlua is not the biggest horse around, standing at only 15hh. She has a dark golden coat with a small star on her forehead. Her mane and tail are both pure white. Sometimes her tail is darker, when it gets dirty. She has a large hip, as she is a barrel racing horse. She has a fairly small chest for a quarter horse, but she is somewhat built like an arabian as well. She has three dark hooves, but each hoof has lighter streeks in it. She has dark brown eyes and an always very sweet look in her eye.
Personality: Kahlua has one mode- fast. She is born to be a barrel runner and she always will be. She is very hot headed, and only someone with a lot of experiance can ride her. She will be great when you are just walking around out the pasture, you can ride her out in the pasture and she will act great. She does NOT walk easily, its a fight to get this horse to go slow. She is not a very good trail horse. She does rear up and buck a lot, until someone can take the time to work it out of her. She is a great roping horse too. Cattle sorting.. shes good with anything cowwy.
Competitions are when she really starts to act up. When doing gymhannakahs, she is not good with the gate. She loves what she does, but for some reason she fights the gate. She rears and bucks and fights to get out of the gate, but once shes through it, she is an amazing runner. She takes many first places and has won many saddles and trophys. She does much better in outdoor arena's then indoor, and she does not like being stalled. She prefers a pasture with a turnout then a stall. She is a handfull.
History: Kahlua was originaly bred to be a childrens horse. After the small child that owned her started gaming her, even at a trot, kahlua started to be very hot headed. She was uncontrollable and the child got hurt. So Kahlua was left in the pasture for a year. She was three by this time, and she was bought by a teenage girl who had been riding horses all her life. This girl and this horse had a very strong bond. High school rodeo's with this horse eventualy led into the bigger rodeos.
Once, while at a rodeo, getting ready for a barrel race, Kahlua reared up, and fell over backwards, landing down ontop of her owner. The girl was critically injured, with three broken rips and one lung collapsed. She lived, but was too scared to ever ride again, so she sold her horse. The family that bought the horse became too scared because Kahlua became violent anytime someone would ride her. Vets and trainers can not figure out the mares crazed behavior. Maybe she just needs to find that one person she bonds with..?
