Such a Ragdoll...
Such a built standardbred mare with beautiful markings, but was thrown away cause of getting pregant. Ragdoll was loaded off the shipping truck and lead down the stalls. She was freighted what might happen next to her. She did't know where she was at in this world. All she knew she was shipped away from the home she loved. Castaway from to many people because she was pregant. Ragdoll didn't like being a castaway from to many people. She didn't trust anyone anymore. They would give her one look and walk away. They never get to see the real her only saw what was on the outside and not in the inside. They never gave her a chance to shine more proudly. They would never know that was growing inside her is the son of a Champion. No gave her the time of day. She watched as other horse's was being lead to their destiny and being with a family. Not her she would most likely be put on a truck to be taken to another sell.

No one wanted to touch the ugly looking mare. Radoll's mane was ratted into nots and made her looks like a stragly old mare. Her white patches was strained with mud and manuare her bay coat was filled with nasty dirt from the drive.No one came to give her a good brushing to make her look beautiful. Then man that was leading her didn't worry about her. If she didn't sell they would just stick her on another truck and send her to another sell or even worse a slaughter house.Ragdoll had no care in the world anymore. Her belly was sore from carring a Champion,but like she said before No one knew he was going to be champion at all. The Old looking man sticked her into a stall and sat down in a chair by the stall. No one gave her a look,but she never looked back at them. Ragdoll watched as the Old looking man placed a piece of paper in the card slant. She wasn't sure what it said or anything. She looked at the man as he fell asleep and she went to the back of the stall and waited.

She looked as people looked at her. She didn't know why people looked at her so nasty like. She wasn't wild or crazy she was like the next horse to her a calm mare that wants to be loved,but no one cared. She put her head near the ground so she couldn't see the looks of people gave her. She snorted and saw the dust blow away from the stall ground. She didn't want to be judged by all these people. They didn't know how wonderful she looked in that English Saddle. They only saw what she looked like now,not what she will look like soon. They didn't even care about her only just to throw her away when they see her bellie. Never agian will she trust anymore. The next person that comes to look at her she will give them a fight for their lives.

She pulled up to the sale barn, her paint mare was settling in nicely but she wanted another horse something different then the normal breed that she had always had. So that’s how she had ended up here, she knew she would find what she was looking for it was just a matter of walking the aisle and seeing if something caught her eye. Her cowboy hat was a top her head, pretty brown locks fell down around her face, there were a few feisty horse a few that were much to calm and then. She set eyes upon the painted body of a standerbred mare, her belly becoming swollen and she knew all to well what that meant. She approached the stall door and got a real good look at the mare, she was not old at all, just battered and broken. She just need some love and care and Selena could ride her because she knew the discipline of English.

Hey pretty girl, she spoke softly. She pulled a baggy of apple slices out of her pant pocket, taking one out she held it out on the palm of her hand, im not here to hurt you and I wont let it happen any more, because pretty girl you are coming home with me. The mare had a catch name to, Ragdoll that’s such a lovely name. Selena turned to the man sleeping in the chair, excuse me sir I would like to buy this mare. She waited for him to wake up so she turned her attention back to the mare and the apple that was still in her palm. She was going to help this mare that was for sure and she did not care at what price.

Such a Ragdoll...

The small head snorted at the dirt on the ground. There was nothing to eat nor nothing to drink in this little stall. It was not enough room to even move around. Only stand one way and that was either to keep your head out the window or sideways and it wasn't that comfey either. So she stood with sideways across the stall. Her lips moved up and down her throat was dry from not having nothing to drink nor to eat. She was eatting for two,but no one cared to give her anything. She reached around and bumped her belly to get a fly from bothering her. She stomped her back hoof and her tail swished as the flys kept bothering her pelt. She snorted and tossed her head up into the air.

Something caught the whisker's of her muzzle and smelt the sweet apple smell. When she looked up she saw a young girl standing there looking at her. Ragdoll stood there and reached out to grab the small apple on the girls hand. She couldn't reach the apple on the girls hand and tossed her head up. Her ear's pricked toward the words of the girl. She seemed to speak softly,but she couldn't really understand anything other than her name and pretty girl. She was called that alot back at her old home. She reached up and took the apple through her lips. The sweet apple tasted so good that she wanted more. She walked up close to the girl and reached her nose into in the girls hand trying to get the bag out of the girls hand, but then shyed away when the man was awoke and he jumped. He looked at the girl who was talking to him."Yeah? He looked at the girl and back to the mare. He was actual happy to see someone wanting this mare. He got up from his seat and smiled."Yeah Ragdoll will pretty much eat anything. She is free so if you want her take her. She hasn't had any luck with anyone,but she looks like she likes you."He looked at her and smiled.Ragdoll sticked her head over the stall door and nudged the man and nipped at his shirt. She snorted and looked back at the young girl and tried to grab her apple's from the bag. Ragdoll snorted to see what would happen to her next since that's all she ever wanted to know is where she would end up,but how it sounded that she might go home with the girl with the apple's,but wasn't sure yet...

She laughed as the horse finally got the apple and wanted more from her bag. Well she will have a fine life with me. With that she took another apple out and gave it to the mare. I will be right back. Selena left and went to her trailer she had a much better more fitting halter in the trailer, a mare like herself deserved it, that and she had more apples in there. She filled the bag and grabbed the pink halter with the little designs on it. walking back into the barn she went into the stall of her new mare, your going to love at my place plus you get to met my paint mare who is also in foal. She stroked the mares nose and gave her another apple, there will be plenty more apples at my place. She took the mares halter off and slipped the new one over her nose, she had also brought a mane and tail brush and body brush this mare was not leaving looking like how she came in.

Selena set to work grooming out the mares mane and tail, making sure to get all the tangles out, she also knew there was a wash stall in her so she would give the mare a quick spray down just to get everything off. Soon the mare was sparkling and as Selena finished wrapping the mares last leg in pink leg wraps she stood and gave the mare an apple, there we are all set. She lead the mare out and nodded to the old man, she lead the mare out to her new four horse trailer and opened the back and lowered the ramp. She walked up and waited for Ragdoll to follow, when ever you are ready sweetie just take your time. Selena could wait on a horse she was not about forcing them to do something. She looked at the mare and waited.

The man knew that Ragdoll would have a good life with this girl. So he stood there and petted the mare and off he went to go and jumpe din his truck. He was happy that the mare would have a good life and not being on a truck going somewhere no one loved her. Then man turned around one last time to see that mare and the girl who had a new halter and everything for this mare. Then the man walked away leaving Ragdoll and the girl.

Ragdoll snorted as the girl left her to go get something. She sticked her head out and watched her leave. Ragdoll let out a loud whinny toward her. Why is this girl now leaving her when she was talking about taking her home? Ragdoll didn't understand why she would leave her here adn the man. She put her head back over into the stall and stood there with her head down. She was sad little mare. Her ear's at the side of her body,but then she heard a voice it was the girl. She pricked her ears up and pushed her head into the girls chest. She felt the soft halter around her her face and looked at the girl. She pushed her with her nose and let out a small whicker.

Ragdoll stood there nice and still while Selena brushed ehr and comber out all the tangles in her mane and tail. Ragdoll's lip was quivering she loved the feeling of the brush touch her coat and making her shine. The water touching her coat felt amazing as well. Just to get all the dirt and grim was an amazing feeling. She felt alittle less weight on her. Her belly was swollen that she could have the colt any day or an up coming week. She felt the wraps around her legs,but let her finish up. She wasn't used to them when Selena walked out of the stall she was high stepping. For only being Four she was a calm mare,but she did have her days where she could spook at everything,but today she was calm and just wants to get out of here. She saw the trailer and walked right back up with Selena and stood there looking at her like " What you waiting for?" She snorted and stood there like a champion. She watched Selena closely. She didn't want her leaving her site at all.Ragdoll was ready to go home.

Selena stroked Ragdolls cheek and then gave her another apple, she tied her up and shut the side panel. She reached over and stroked the mares nose again and dropped a flake of hay in the bowl and some apples on top, alright sweetie lets head home. She exited and closed up the trailer, hoping into her truck she stuck the key into the ignition and started the truck. She put on her seatbelt and carefully pulled out of the sale barns, watching out for people and horses, she occasionally had to stop to let horse and human pass but soon she was out and on the road heading to her house, hopefully Ragdoll would love it there and she already knew Diva would adore having a new friend around she just hopped Ragdoll would like her too. She also needed to check Diva to make sure she was not getting close to foaling, she was still about a week away but could go early do to the fact of being a maiden mare, Selena was also wondering if Ragdoll was starting to bag up and such, seeing the mare was quite heavy in foal and looked like any day she was going to pop. Soon Selena pulled into her driveway and parked the truck next to the barn, she turned it off and hopped out, going around to the trailer.

Ragdoll blew through her roller's and watched as Selena walked out of the trailer. She almost lost her balance when the truck started to move slowly. The trailer wasn't swaying to bad,but she had to move her feet just right so she wouldn't be wobly around the place. She smelled the hay and apple's that Selena dropped for her to eat. She ate the apple's first and then she started in for her hay. She finished her hay when the truck came to a stop. She heard a loud noise and her head picked up. A small whicker came from his muzzle and she turned her head to the back of the trailer even though she could hardly see. She just wanted to get out and see where she would be living all her life. Ragdoll got alittle impactent nad stomped her back leg on the trailer floor. She was ready to be out of here since she was all cleaned up and meet whatever came her way.

I hear you sweetie, she cooed to the mare inside the trailer. Diva let a loud whicker go eager to see her new friend. Her swollen belly swaying as she came to the fence line. Selena turned to Diva, yes I hear you too. she laughed and opened the trailer door and dropped the ramp, she climbed inside and untied the mare leading her out. She brought her over to the fence line were Diva had hung her head over, checking the mare out, she gave her a friendly whicker and nudged Selena wanting the mare to come in the pasture so she could play with her. Selena laughed and opened the gate, she could clearly see Diva had dropped more, both mares would be in at night and the cams and foaling monitors on. She un clipped the lead line and stepped back waiting to see what happened.

Ragdoll snorted and stomped around the trailer until Selena came in and got her. She tossed her head up scared to be hit for moving and making to much noise,but she didn't feel a hand hit her at all.Ragdoll's ear's pricked up when she heard another horse outside the trailer door. Ragdoll walked out alittle fast out of the trailer when she saw the other mare. Ragdoll prance around at the lead. She had never been around another horse this close. Only in stalls was what she was used to and muddy paddocks. When she saw the grass paddock she was alittle excited and a small whicker was let out. She smelled the other mare and let out a squeal and tossed her head up alittle. She was happy, but wasn't sure what to do. She followed Selena toward the gate. She took off at a trot when she unclipped the lead. She looked at other mare,but didn't run over to her. She smelled around at the ground and laid down and began to roll,but she couldn't all the way since her belly was swollen. She stood up and shook her entire body and trotted toward the mare. She let out a nicker and walked up to her and reached her muzzle out to smell her. She let out a small squiel tossed her head up and pinned her ears back. She then just went to eatting grass and left the mare alone. What was she post to do. She was scared to run incase of loseing the foal she loved so much. She looked at the mare and walked up to her and began to lick her coat. Ragdoll knew that she just made a new friend and would never leave her new friend. She pricked her head up and looked at Selena and let out a small whicker just to say "thank you" to her then went back to eatting grass.

Selena relaxed when the two began to groom each other, she walked out hearing Ragdoll’s whicker she just smiled and nodded, she did not understand it but hey she had done her good. She went and got in the truck bring it up to the house, were she parked it and then walked into her house, she would take a nap before bring the two in for the night and checking them and then getting the monitors all set up. Diva looked at the mare and began to groom the other mares coat. As the mare wandered away, Diva took the time to nip at her belly, as the foal was kicking her. She swished her tail and stomped a hoof. She looked at the other mare, she was a tad bigger in the belly then the other mare but none the less she could tell they were both heavy in foal. She trotted over to the mare and whickered softly to her, Im Diva and who might you be? She spoke toward the mare in a friendly tone. Dive tossed her head and picked up a canter, moving across the pasture and to the spot in the back which was shady and covered her from the evening sun. She lowered her head and began to graze.

Ragdoll watched at the girl left and the mare began to groom her aswell. She wasn't sure what to about all this. This place was amazing and she had a friend and a very nice owner. She looked at the other mare and nickered. She could tell she was heavy with foal aswell,but she wasn't as huge as her. She wasn't sure what would become of her colt or filly. She watched as the other mare nipped her belly. The only thing she hated was the kicking her bellie and always moving around. She swished her tail back and forth and looked at the mare.'I'm Ragdoll...'She told the mare called Diva in a sweet voice. She wasn't sure what else to say to her.You have a nice home and thank you for letting me be apart of it."She told Diva. She wasn't used to all the grooming and the "new"things. She was just thrown away like always,but not here. She knew she would never be thrown away like she was she got pregent. Ragdoll stomped her hoof at fly's that was bitting her leg. She watched as Diva cantered away and she followed at a canter. She was a first time mother and wasn't sure what to do other than to do what her insticts told her to do. She grazed along side Diva and swished the fly's away from her heavy body. She could tell they was both different breeds. Diva was more thicker than she was and she was more narro,but with alittle muscle. She really didn't care at all really. Just aslong as she was loved she wouldn't care. She staied grazing along side of Diva and then stopped and stood by the shade tree and closed her eye's and took herself a nap under the shade tree.

Diva, nodded nice to meet you Ragdoll no need to thank me though you are going to love it here. Diva nickered and raised her head as the owner came towards them. Clipping lead lines onto there halters. She lead them into the barn, which was very nice, large spaces stalls, that were half doors and you could hang your head over and touch noses with your neighbor. Selena stuck each in a stall she had prepared with extra bedding and each stall had a camera in the corner, she put a different halter on each and then gave them there food, wail she checked them over. Diva was not touching her food so she was begin to wonder if she was closer then she had original thought. She patted the mares neck and then exited, you two better not foal in the same night but that would be my luck. She smiled and entered checked Ragdoll out, she also seemed close. She patted the mare and gave her an apple. Before exiting, get some rest you two it could be a long night. She exited the barn to go and get some rest herself.

Ragdoll snorted as she saw Selena walk into the pasture with her lead. She really didn't want to go in. She wanted to stay out here longer,but it seemed like it didn't matter at all really cause she didn't have a chance to get away when she felt the lead clip onto her halter. She snorted and looked at Selena she already at Diva in tow so she just followed anyway. She kept her head down low cause really she didn't want to go inside she just wanted to stay out for much longer,but it wouldn't happen. She followed Selena into the barn and walked into her large stall that was soft to her hoofs. She smelled around the stall,but didn't look at the food at first. She walked around the stall and found the water bucket and drank half of the bucket of water. She watched Selena walk into her stall and she pinned her ears at her.She was protective of her food. She wasn't used to having food like this so she wanted to eat it. She walked to her food and began to eat a couple bites,but she wasn't hungry so she walked over to her water and drank it cleaned. She looked at Selena her ear's pricked up and looked at her and walked close to her. She was ok now to come into her space. She nickered to Selena and went to the back of the stall and shut her eye's. It was going to be a long night for her she could already tell. It felt like her bellie was dropping even more and she might be having the colt any day now. She watched Selena exit the barn and she smelled the ground and laid on the soft ground and kept her neck on the ground. She closed her eye's and fell right to sleep.

It was around 3am in the morning when Ragdoll began to have contractions. She snorted and woke up and had bed shedding all over her. She stood up and began to walk around the stall. She paced the stall and was nervous about everything. She heard a noise and she jumped and she began to get anxious and began to paw at the ground then her water broke. Ragdoll snorted and smelled the water on the ground and bit at her bellie and began to kick at her bellie and it seemed like it lasted forever. She to smell the ground when she laid down and began to roll around. Around 6am a small colt bay laid on the ground beside her. Ragdoll laid on the ground and still and rested and looked over to her side to see the small bay colt with a white star on his forehead. Ragdoll nickered to the colt and the colt's head moved off the ground and looked around. Ragdoll stood up and everythign came out of her. She looked at the colt on the ground and smelled it. It was her baby and she couldn't belive it really. She looked at diva and nickered." Diva he is here!"She let out a squeal. She began to lick his coat clean and move him around to get his air flow going. She looked at the little thing on the ground. She nickered agian and after 30mins the colt was trying to get up and around on his long wobbly legs. Ragdoll helped him up and he would fall over and she was right there beside him to help him up.Hey there little boyShe told him and nudged his side agian and he jumped up. She stood still and watched him try to walk,but fall over over and over again. Then the small colt looked up to Ragdoll and let out a small nicker and walked over to her bell and began to nurse. She pinned her ears back she wasn't used to the feeling. She looked at Diva and waited for the colt to finish and he laid down. Ragdoll was tired so she laid down too and fell asleep beside her colt.

Selena had forgotten to turn the cams and monitors on so when she went down in the morning to check and feed she was pleasantly surprised to see Ragdoll with a perfectly healthy colt. They were curled up asleep, she dumped the feed in and picked up the after birth and such and cleaned as much of the stall she could with out disturbing them. She went over to check on Diva, well hun you are sure not going outside today your looking closer then ever. She cleaned the stall and took the halter off the mare, she went to Ragdoll and took hers off to, wont be needing this any more. She shut the door behind her, Diva she would watch close threw out the day, a little worried at the size of the foal. She head up to the house to grab a bit to eat.

She began to pace soon after Selena had left, thin layer of sweat upon her buckskin coat. Per labor before the actual thing started, about eight her water broke right as Selena was coming in, Selena was watching he with a careful eye, Diva paced some more and then laid down and began to push, but after some time she was tiring and the foal was no where near out, Selena stepped in. its alright hun she patted the mares rump, she needed the mare to push so she could grab what little of the legs were sticking out. Diva began to push again and Selena grabbed hold and pulled along, it was a butt first foal she just needed to get its rump past, she slipped a hand along side and helped guide the rump out, it will only get easier from here girl one or two more pushes and we are home free, Diva gave it her all and finally there was a foal there, Selena broke the sac and rubbed the filly and cleared her nose, getting her to finally breath. She stood, my what a large foal you have Diva. She checked the mare for tearing or signs of bleeding but found none she was just very tired and sore. Selena cleaned everything up and left the new mommy’s to some peace. I finally raised my head to see my beautiful new filly, she was big thing and some long legs that seemed to go on for ever. I stood, sore and shaking but I had to show her how, the filly attempted to follow suit but stumbled a few times before getting it. I whickered softly to her as she bumped along my belly until she began to finally nurse, I was not use to it but accepted it as a part of being a mother, when she was done I laid down but she walked around and around me and then began to run, I guess I was blessed with the active child. I whickered to her and she stopped and looked at me before coming over and laying down next to me. I fell asleep but I could tell she was wide awake.

Ragdoll woke up that morning seeing Selena walk through the barn. I picked up my head and let out a small whicker,which woke up my son. He stood up and looked down at me. I watched him as he began to get curious and looking at the corner's in the stalls. He must of heard the other foal in the stall beside us cause he walked over there and let out a small nicker. I stood up when Selena came into my stall and let her take my halter off. I walked over to the grain bucket and put my nose in it. There was still some grain left from lastnight and began to nibble on it. My son thought he was hungry and walked over and began to drink. I stood there after awhile and waited until he was finished and he went to take a nap. He was such a tired colt and really she couldn't blame him. She was tired herself,but you could see the underweight mare since she had her colt you could tell her was underweight. She looked at Selena and nickered at her and walked toward the stall door and stuck her head out and nickered out to her. She wanted to get outside and graze among the grass. It wouldn't hurt for her son to get out and run around either,but maybe she just needed to rest. Ragdoll backed away from the stall door and walked over the corner where her son was sleeping and stood over him and fell asleep aswell. She wasn't sure what her son would be named,but she didn't care. His pitch black coat which made him standout. He wasn't like any other colt and only the people who had his father knew that his father was a great stallion. Ragdoll kept sleeping and so did her colt. It didn't last long until they heard a nose and they was both up. Ragdoll nickered toward Diva.I bet she is a beautiful filly. She over heard Selena talk about the filly and wanted to meet this young filly and Diva agian. She was ready to get out and just sunbath really. She looked over to her colt as he was running around the stall. His long legs carring him across the bedding.
