"Oh, thank goodness... Rebel..." Chris breathed, following Rebel across the pen, lugging the little water trough with him, along with the decimated saddle pad. he sat down next to Rebel and trickled more water down his throat, then began to rub him down with the rest of the wet cloth. The water was warm from having been in the sun, but it was still cooler than Rebel's flesh. "I'm sorry, Reb. I shouldn't have roped that bush - you weren't ready for it, were you?" He said to the horse gently, continuing to rub him down, trying to get his temperature and breathing down to an acceptable level. Every five minutes or so he would pour more water down his throat, knowing that if he drank too quickly he could colic but also that he needed some water in his system because he was sweating out all the moisture he had so quickly. "You'll be ok, won't you?" he asked, worried, stroking the horse's damp, sweaty neck.

His breathing was slowing, his body not so hot but much to warm for him. He snorted at the mans words, the water feeling good upon his body and throat. He opened his eyes to look at the man again, there were a few moments ago when he thought he was going to die, his body physically ached and let a distressed call leave his kissers, he looked up at the man again. A look that said I will be fine just give me time. He raised his head and then set it down on the mans lap, closing his eyes he let the man run the water over his body, he did not protest he merely soaked up the attention, he was sweating everything out so fast but at least he was a bit better then before.

"Poor boy," Chris murmured, continuing to rub Rebel down and trickle water down his throat - only mouthfuls at a time. He smiled slightly as Rebel laid his head in his lap, stroking the thick mustang mane and the neck of the horse fondly. He really did like Rebel, and he was scared that the horse was going to be badly affected by this whole ordeal, even though it seemed like the colt still trusted him somewhat. Chris had only meant to get him up and active, and now he felt horrible and guilty of causing Rebel even more grief. He would stay with Rebel here as long as it took for him to feel good enough to go into the barn - into a stall this time, because Rebel's feed needed to be regulated. He was clearly a very sensitive colt - Chris had just assumed that he would be fine on straight grass like Omaha was - and he needed some grain. If he had been on corn or pellets he certainly wouldn't be burning up so readily.

Rebel snorted and soon enough his body had cooled off. He raised his head and stood, looking over at the gate he snorted and looked back down at the man, like now what? He wanted to go into the barn, he wanted to please this man so he did not go back to the sale. He shook his thick mane and flicked his tail against his flanks, his body ached a little here and there. He whickered and nudged the man, nibbling at his shirt and then raising his head. He lowered his head into the water trough taking his own time with the water, he was splashing and playing with it and then he would sip but he pulled away not wanting to over do it.

"That's a good boy," Chris said with a chuckle as Rebel played in the water. The colt had lived in the wild, after all, so he ought to have good sense about these things. Coming to his head, he took the reins of the hackamore. "Come on, let's get you into a stall. It'll be cooler indoors, anyway." He said, leading the way to the gate slowly, not wanted Rebel to get scared or anything when they passed the - now dead - bush, still lying there tangled up in the lasso. "No more staying outside all day for you, little man. You get in too much trouble." he said, as they entered the barn slowly. A couple other horses looked up sleepily, but Chris walked past them to the back of the barn where the empty stalls were. He'd have to talk to the owner about getting Rebel in on a stall board instead of a paddock board, but he wasn't about to put the horse back outside in the sun now.

He was led out and to the barn were they first had to pass the bush, he whinnied and kicked out at it and then danced sideways until they pasted it and headed into the barn. He shied and hid from the stares of others as he was led past and into an empty stall way in the back, he shook his head and walked into the stall. He went right to the back corner and lowered his head and looked around, he looked at the man. wondering what he was suppose to do and he did not want to raise his head because that just meant the horses would stare at him again and they may make fun of him, so he lowered his head more and waited.

"Easy now," Chris murmured as they walked past the bush, mentally rolling his eyes. He was pleasantly surprised when Rebel went right in the stall, but the poor horse looked a little down. He half-filled one of the water buckets and then ran to the feed room, coming back with a quarter scoop of fresh bran mash. It would do the poor little colt good after his stressful day, and it was nice and cool and contained a hint of lentils. "Here you go, Rebel, that'll make it seem a little more friendly in here." He said, butting it in the feed bin. It was only a couple mouthfuls - tomorrow he'd get Rebel on a little bit of grain and rationed hay.

He came up to the bucket, sniffed around but walked away going to the water. He sipped contently, emptying the bucket soon enough. He could smell the feed but it just did not sit well with him, he was not use to this stuff the man put in his bucket, he went back and sniffed it, he took a little bit and chewed it, it really was not the bad and so he soon had finished that off, he walked away and circled before laying down on the bedding, he wrapped his head around his pillars and closed his eyes falling asleep.
