"Hey, now. Chill, Stevie, she didn't know," Chris said, watching the mare trot off. "Easy there, Dancer." He said, watching the mare with a little bit of concern on his face. He would have done the same, if Dancer had technically done anything wrong, but there was obviously no way that she could know that his ribs were broken. Stevie was a little bit overprotective, he knew, but still, he didn't think she should have done that. Shaking the thought off, he looked at the little colt again, grinning slightly as he tried to stick his whole neck through the fence, then frowned slightly as it stuck. From where he was kneeling he would tell that the colt had gone a little too far and stressed the wood, which now was close around the base of his neck. "Calm down, little guy... You got it in there, so you can get it out, if you just chill out and think about this for a minute. You're just as eager as Lightning!" he said, placing a hand on Storm's neck to stop him from pulling his head back violently any longer, hoping that the colt would realize that if he just turned his head and neck to the side a bit he could get out easily enough.

I ignored Chris for a minuate and concentrated on Dancer. "Sorry girl come here. I won't hit you again. Ask Lightning I never do it twice plus it didn't hurt anything but your pride." I looked at the stuck foal and giggled. "Storm is going to be just like his daddy. Look at him! He's already gotten himself in trouble on his first day!" I chuckled. I looked at Lightning who had his head down and he was cocking it slightly. "Yeah big boy your in trouble too. Don't you worry but not here." He just snorted and continued to stare at my pitifully.
I turned my head to the side and it slipped out I quickly ran to my mom and hide behind her tail. I poked my head out, strands of her tail still on me. "That fence was trying to eat me!" I squealed. I made my head disapear into her tail. "It's a monster!" I was hoping not to get in trouble with Stevie but hey I had it coming. I looked at Dancer. "It's ok. Chris's ribs are broken so Stevie's a bit protective. When you nudged him in the chest it hurt. She just was trying to correct you. She never whips use or anything, even in a race. If you see her carrying a whip it's just for lunging use though she never touches us with it." I looked at her hopefully. "Stevie never hurts us. Ever." I said. I knew that she had some trust issues but she would get over it.

I watched as he got his head out and ran and hid behind me, I laughed its not a monster and it was not trying to eat you, you just had to remember that you need to turn your head. Im sorry lightning but why don’t you take a walk in my shoes and ask first why I acted like I did and now im going to tell you, I hate having a whip or anything around me because my old owners older son use to come and whip me for the pure fun of it, he was a sick dirty little freak and I will never ever relax towards a flick or a whip I don’t even want to see one not even if its not going to touch me. I snorted and tossed my crown as my son hid behind my legs, I looked at the humans and waited for something to happen.

Chris looked at Dancer sadly, wondering how long it would take for her to come back over to the fence, and wishing that Stevie hadn't flicked her on the nose. After all, he had told Dancer that it hurt - the horse was plainly very sensitive and probably understood the tone of his words more than anything else. He chuckled and looked up at Stevie's words. "Yeah, he's just as rash and silly as his dad. Probably gonna injure himself before long," he said, watching gladly as the little colt worked out how to get his head unstuck and galloped off across the pasture fearfully to hide behind his mother's long tail. "He's gonna be good at whatever he does, though. Lucky for us the pastures at Last Hope have bigger fences... Though I don't think that's gonna stop Lightning here." As he spoke, a tone of excitement entered his voice unbidden - he was really getting revved up for this whole new ranch thing. There was even a big back pasture for Omaha to live in, with its own little shelter and everything.
ooc;; Bah, kinda crappy and short, sorry.
