Name:
Shamrock
Show Name:
Shamrock of Sherlock
Age:
Six
Gender:
Gelding
Wild or Tame:
Tame
Breed:
Welsh cross
Height:
Fifteen hands
Physical Description:
Shamrock is a fifteen hand, almost to the centimetre, chestnut welsh pony cross. He's a muscular lad with strong hind legs and a thick coat. He's a native pony, so there's a lot of that around his small, compact body and bright eyes. He has a long tail, because Leah hardly ever cuts it except to trim it. His mane as well has been allowed to grow long, it makes him look either very smart of very scruffy, depending if he's been in the field for a long time. His ears are usually pricked up if he's just in the stable or the field, but he will get down to work and look very determined. Little chestnut bombshell. He has a stocking on his front foreleg and a sock on his back. He also has a large white blaze as a facial marking, otherwise he's pure chestnut. Compact and chestnut.
Personality:
He's a hard working little lad. But has a temper. He gets very excited very quickly and needs a firm, but light hand to keep him on the right track. He will try hard for you, but if you let him loose he'll bolt like a race horse. He can put up the gears like a thoroughbred, and occasionally thinks he is one. If he's been cooped up in a stable he'll tend to go for a buck, gallop, roll, in that order when he's out in the field. It tends to be a good idea to leave quickly. He can be a clever little bugger. Without a kick bolt on the door he might just get his teeth around the bolt and pull it out. Hence getting out and causing havoc. Usually in the way of pulling ropes off walls, he has a serious habit of pulling lead ropes off hooks, it's just a strange habit he has, no-one really found out why. He just has these strange little habits.
History:
Born just outside Edinburgh city. Shamrock was originally broken to be a school riding pony. He was small enough that he could be ridden by children. However, when he was broken and given to a school he tended to be a bit of a handful. He'd spin and pull and he wasn't exactly the most comfortable ride a little child could have. He tended to only be ridden by the stable hands, who were a little bit big for him to be honest. He could just be very tempremental, so he was sold to a specialised rider who trained up difficult ponies. He had Shamrock for a month before deciding the best thing for the feisty pony was to train him up into games. He was trained up and given to a mounted games farm. There he was ridden for a year by Leah before she bought him and took him to America. She's trying to train him to western as well, just because she tried barrel racing with him and it was some of the most fun she's ever had.
