A reassuring hand rested on the stallions shoulder as he pranced down the aisle his coat still wet from the early morning bath he had just received from his stable hand. Jokers old farm had gone down and now they needed the money to pay things off so all the horses were here and waiting for a new home. He let forth a call as he was put in cross ties just outside his stall all the excitement going on around him made him just as excited or maybe just a little bit more. The stable hand patted the bays neck and walked off leaving him to finish drying, Joker tucked his neck in elegantly before becoming enthused with the cross ties soon however his attention was drawn to the mare who was being sold with him as she nipped him on the rump, he glared and then went back to watching the humans.
There was another horse to this story, a buckskin mare who happened to be one of the farms many horses the only difference was she and Joker were being sold together and all the rest of the horses were being sold alone. Aphrodite peered out of her stall before hanging her head over and stretching it, so she could just nip Joker on the rump as he dropped the cross tie, she brought her head back into the stall in a mocking sort of way, they were like brother and sister but in no way related and after all is that not what brothers and sisters did? Joker glared before turning around, slowly Aphrodite stuck her head outside the stall and nipped him again this time a call left her kissers as she stopped mid nip to look at the humans who had stopped to watch. She wanted one of them to come up and give her attention but they did not they just moved on, she snorted and brought her head back in her stall waiting for something more exciting to happen.

Baylor walked around the sale barn. It was something he had to do for him to find any horses to fill his empty stalls. Baylor had dropped the truck off with his 4 horse slant in the parking lot while he came and look. Baylor has seen many many horses and was going to give up and head back home. Nothing here seemed to catch his eye or catch what he wanted on his ranch. Baylor wanted to have a working horse that knew how to work and if he had too. He would train them. Quarter horses was his favorite breed other than paints. He has seen paints or Quarter horses all day here. So there was no hope for himself so he began to walk back to the parking lot until...
Something caught his ears. He stopped where he was in his tracks and turn down to see a bay stallion in the cross ties drying off, but also saw the buckskin dapple mare picking on the stud and made him smile really. These two acted like siblings. Baylor tipped his hat up and walked toward them. They looked like quarter horse and well Baylor liked them. Baylor walked up to the stud." Hey there bud." then turn toward the mare." Oh and hello little girl He smiled and placed both his hands on the horses. They both seemed pretty perfuct to him. Baylor looked around for the owner.

Oh a new human! I squealed with delight as he stopped and put his hand on both of us, I bumped his and then lipped at it gently, not bitting him or anything. I popped my head back into the stall and pushed around a jolly ball that I had been given, I grabbed it in my teeth and then hung my head over, dropping the ball near his feet. Joker just looked and I huffed nipping him again only a bit ruff so he had no chose but to slam his hoof down and shift so I could not reach him. Just then the stable hand came and I bumped him as he scratched my nose. These two are quite the pair, they are not siblings but the owners are choosing to sell them together 1,800 or best offer. The man smiled and patted Aphrodite neck, he put the ball back in the stall and opened the door the mare quietly walked out and he clipped her into the cross ties, The Bay is Joker and the mare is Aphrodite those are there barn names. He smiled and waited.

Baylor laughed when he saw the mare drop the ball to his feet.What a funny little mare?" He asked himself. He has never seen a mare play with a jolly ball before and it surprised him alittle. Baylor smiled and looked at the stud alittle bit more than the mare. He began to rub his hand over the stud's back and down his rump. He began to feel the studs legs to check for soundness. Baylor stood up when he heard a man come up behind him." Sounds like a good price for a good couple of horses." Baylor smiled adn thought about the price, but wanted to see them walk alittle before making a decesion about anything. Plus to look at the mare's legs.
Baylor moved out of the stable man's way as he walked the mare out of the stall. She seemed to have an pretty nice walk to her. He thought to himself. Baylor looked at the two horses and smiled. Then walked toward the mare and began to feel her legs to make sure everything was sound." Sounds like you might have a buyer. These horses are pretty sound and would make a great pair at my home." Baylor looked at Aphrodite and then the stable hand." Is she sound for breeding?Same with Joke." He wasn't saying he was going to breed the two,but he wanted to mare sure for future referances.

The man smiled yes a good price, he watched as he checked the horses legs and then he seemed satisfied, yes they are both sound for breeding they have passed all there vet checks and are very sound, if you would like we can take them to on of the out side paddocks and you can ride them to see if they are up to your liking before you buy them, or you can lunge them to. The man smiled he was following the owners wishes, the owners only wanted to see there horses go to a good home. So the man un clipped the mare and clipped a lead on her, follow me he said. Leading the mare to an open paddock he handed the man the lead, nodded his head, tipped his hat slightly and stepped back watching the two to see how they got along if he liked her.

Baylor followed the man and smiled." Well...We will see." He grabed the lead from the man and when he stepped back he looked behind him and let the clip that held the lead to the halter go. He wanted to see her have fun and move on her own not being forced." Go on show me what you got girl." He took a step back and watched the mare for awhile. He loved all the movement she showed to him. He walked over to the man." $1,800? for both? He smiled at the guy and kind of had his eye's close from the sun." I'll take both." He didn't have to looked at the stud movement. If they came from the say place he knew they would work great for him. Baylor whislted and looked at the mare." Come on Girl" and whistled agian.
" Let me go grab my truck and write you a check." He handed the lead over to the man and jumped over the fence and walked toward the parking lot to grab his truck and trailer. He drove it around toward the paddocks of where the mare was at and shut it off. He grabed his checkbook from the back of his pocket. He started to write everything done other than the seller, but filled everything else out." Who do I make this to?" He asked as he saw the man come forward to him.

The man watched as he un clipped the lead and stepped telling her to on, her muscles quivered and then she was off racing to the other end, before hitting the fence she did a sliding stop and quite a quick turn before trotting nicely back up to the humans looking for attention. Im glad you will take both, when the man drove his truck up here he had already got the mare and was waiting, just make it out to Double T Ranch he spoke. The mare tossed her head still wanting to go more but she was attached to a lead so she could not, instead she resorted to standing patiently and quietly wail the two men sorted things out.

Baylor smiled and watched the little mare go. He was falling in love with this mare and couldn't wait to start training with her in the reining pens. He looked over to the man and kept his arms crossed watching the mare. This was going to be such a joy with two horses plus cattle and someone to work for him.
Baylor finished his check and lifted his hat up to scratch his head. He had heard that name before, but couldn't put a word on it. Maybe it was the western horsemanship, but he wasn't sure. He walked to the back of the trailer and opened the trailer gate. It wasn't a fancy trailer where it had a ramp and everything. It had the tack room in the back with a living quarter's upfront. He walked inside and pulled out the slants until he got to the first slant for the mare. He walked back out of the trailer and walked toward the man." Double T Ranch.... I have heard of that name before. Really good horses I will say." He smiled and he was pretty happy to have two horses from them." To bad they had to sell." Baylor looked at him and handed the $1,800 dollor check. He walked to the mare and tooked the lead and walked her up to the trailer. Most horse's knew how to load up by themselfs, but Baylor waited to see what the mare did next.If she loaded up fine then he would follow her and lock her inside and got get the stallion.If not then he would walk her in and do what he had to.

The man nodded it’s a shame but once there top sire died things got rocky and went down hill until they had no money most there horses are here but about a quarter of them have sold already. The man was giving the check he tipped his hat and walked off knowing that the guy could very well handle them. Being lead from the paddock to the trailer, she squealed with delight and hopped right in, itching to go the lead hit the end and tugged on her halter so she had to wait for the man, Joker saw the mare being loaded into the trailer and called out to her, she may be annoying but he would not be the same with out his buddy or mate, he shifted antsy to go with her. He stood still watching and waiting.

Baylor smiled when the mare jumped up. He wasn't to worried about the other horses since they all got sold. He had his two and he was happy and he could start his own herd of broodmares after training them. He followed the mare inside and locked the gate and wrapped the lead around her neck and tied it so she wouldn't step on it if it slid of her neck.' Don't worry girl. Your gonna like your new home. I promise, lots of green pastures.""Baylor smiled and walked out to hear Joker nickering. He gave the stud a smile and took the lead from the other man. He walked joker up to the trailer hopping he could jump in himself. So baylor put the lead around his neck and waited to see if he jumped in. Once joke would get in he would lock the slant too and the last one and shut the trailer gate and lock it and head on home to their new place with green fields.

The gate was shut and she settled into her spot her head dropping slightly with sleep that was setting in. Joker was excited that the man was coming back and he was soon un clipped and lead out to the trailer were his lead line was tied around his neck, he shook his head and hopped in taking his spot next the now sleeping mare, now he could see his sweet revenge, slowly he turned his head and nipped her neck startling Aphrodite, he head shoot up and she kicked out at the trailer frightened by the sudden pinch then she realized it was Joker, glaring she closed her eyes again as a tremor ran along her spine.

Baylor closed the gate of the trailer and made sure the horse's where find before getting in his truck and takin off. Baylor drove on his way home happy to have his own two horses ready to get into their new home. Baylor could already see his place full with Joker's colts and fillys. Same with Aphrodite, but she would be more of his showing horse than a broodmare. Joker was going to be a show horse / ranch horse. Baylor turned out onto the highway and turned home ward.
