The stallion stood patiently in the cross ties, as his owner finished grooming him. Her pace was slow and steady as she dropped the last brush into the groom box and put the pad upon his back, the stallion tossed his head, Easy boy. She spoke softly, her right knee was still in a brace but it was sound enough to ride now. As she tightened the last of the straps she slipped the bridle over his nose tightened it and led him out into the spring day light. Today was in particular a nice day and she wanted nothing more then to go on a relaxing trail ride and enjoy the company of her horse. Sammie mounted and winced a little with the pain but soon the pain was gone and she was on her way down the trail, Spirit let a whicker go before settling in to the easy pace but before long they were trotting and a smile was upon her face she had not felt this good in a long while and she knew it would only get better.

Boy, just settle down! He growled in a gruff tone as he finally got angry with the gelding who was not listening at all. Pablo figured it was because of being cooped up all the time, in which he couldn't be angry with him for that. The Spanish Mustang finally took off at a gallop through the forest, with his rider just barely hanging on before coming to an almost sudden stop. He jogged a little bit before slowing to a stop as he felt the reins. Now that we have that out of the way, can we please just ride? He asked, scratching his scruffy chin. It seemed like he hadn't shaved in forever, but he really didn't care at this point. His black hair was ruffled by the wind that they had just blown through. Ahead was a log, and for this they both needed to be on the same page. A sigh was given. This seemed to be just a distraction from the real pain that burned his heart. This was just a run to get his energy out before they went to find a stable to keep the equines and hopefully get a job. Nice and slow, Fuego... He whispered, asking for a jog before a lope and then all of a sudden the log was there, below and behind them. And once again, Fuego stopped. This time though, there was a distraction. Right there in front of them. A stallion, no less. Ears laid flat as Fuego stood his ground. Stop it now! Pablo snapped at him. Sometimes, how the hell did they get along?

She sighed as the stallion eased into things, he seemed all right after being cooped up for some time, she reached down and rubbed her keen, before stroking her stallions neck, good boy. He was a smooth horse but any sort of losing the reins he would be off, it was what he was breed to do and he already had one of his own foals on the ground, which she hopped to get. There was a commotion behind her and she stopped her horse and turned, a guy and his gelding were coming near them. Her stallion snorted and she figured she should allow him to run so he would settle more. She grabbed a hold of her cowboy hat and gave her horse his head, in an instant he shot off, she laughed and guided him around the trail slowing him to a lope then a jog when the other two were no longer visible, she patted his neck, now that’s my boy. She smiled and settled in for the ride.

See lookee there, you scared them... His last word was lost as Fuego took off after them. He was going to show him whose boss around here, and that was him. It wasn't fair that he had a head start, but whatever. Dammit Fuego! He grabbed the reins and hauled them back and the gelding came to a complete stop, his hindquarters going under him. You are going to learn! Pablo said through his teeth. There were days when he was lovable, and days that he was just a troublemaker. Of course, the two were visible again and Fuego was revving to go and strut his stuff for the other stallion, which might land in a very bad mess. No we are going to stay back here and wait for them to go up ahead and then we will go. Understand? He stated to Fuego, scratching his neck fondly. Okay, so he complains about his brat all the time, but he loved him no matter what.

Spirit began to prance in place and she rolled her eyes, tightening the reins just a little. But some how he managed to get them lose and gave a powerful buck and she fell off, shit she spoke as the horse took off. Her knee was now in a lot of pain the doctor had said being bucked off was probably not a good thing. Spirit you brat get back here, but like he could hear her, he was long down the trail. She stood and dusted herself off, beginning to walk down the trail, when she found that horse he was going to get a piece of her mind or maybe the whole thing, he knew better then to haul off and pull a stunt like that, she kicked the ground with her boot, damn horse. She would be showing him that pulling a stunt like this would not be fun for him.

See what you've done now? He said gruffly, nudging him into a lope. Pablo wanted to make sure that she was not hurt. This time Fuego acted like a perfect gentleman. Are you okay miss? He asked, holding the reins tight to make sure that the gelding wouldn't take off after the stallion. Do you want me to help go after your horse? I could give you a lift to find him. Fuego looked over with soft eyes as if that was how he always acted. His ears were perked, ready to help to show up her own horse. Such a brat, always double-playing everyone. He thought as he scratched his neck, waiting on her answer.

As much as she hated asking for help this was a time that required it, im ok on the other hand I don’t know if my horse will be when I get a hold of him, she was only kidding but Spirit would have a serious time out and possible a hard lesson on who was boss, I could use a lift that is if you don’t mind. She smiled slightly before looking down finding herself nervous around him for some un known reason. She sighed and took her hat off running her hand through her curly blond hair. I don’t know what got into him, he knows that is not acceptable and he’s normally so good with me on his back at least after the accident but maybe it’s the spring weather. What ever it was it had bit Spirit in the ass and caused him to be one she sighed and waited for an answer.

He had to think for a few moments, trying to figure out what would be better. He took his foot out of the stirrup and then offered her his hand. The sun made his black hair shine and the chestnut gelding's coat seem to glow. I'll try to make sure the ride is smooth, unless you want to sit up front. Sometimes he can be a little rough. He listened as he described how he was acting and nodded, I just hope that it wasn't Fuego who got him started. If so I am sincerely sorry. By the way, yo me llamo, I mean I am Pablo. His spanish tongue had slipped out, but he knew how to keep it under control for the most part. Most of his family spoke Spanish almost all the time, and it had grown on him.

She smiled, oh no he did not get him started it is just probably the fact of him being cooped up he hates that. She watched as he took his foot out of the stirrup and offered her his hand, she smiled again and took his hand swing up behind him deciding that, that’s were she felt comfortable. Its nice to meet you Pablo im Sammie. She was not holding on to him feeling that it would be awkward for the both of them, all though if he said to she would just for the safety, she put her cowboy hat on and made herself a little bit more comfortable, she had not rode double in awhile, so it felt a little strange and weird to her. He should be were there is water after all its his favorite thing besides treats. She should probably make the best of this so she settled on asking him some questions, so Pablo what was it like for you growing up? She sighed again and waited.

Pablo pondered the question as he asked Fuego for a walk. This time he listened as if he was always a perfect gentleman. Do you know where any water is so we're not looking everywhere? He asked, wondering where there was any direction to go in otherwise they'd be wandering around for hours, which probably Fuego wouldn't mind. It was fine, I grew up on my parents' ranch. That's where I got this brat from and my mare... Not really his mare, his daughters. But he had no problem keeping that part out. [/b]What about you?[/b] He reciprocated the question back, a little curious. A bird flew out of a bush and he grabbed Fuego's mane out of instinct, calloused hands then gently running against his neck. He was being good. For now.[/size]

She listened as he spoke, I don’t know im new here but if I recall there’s a path on the right that takes you to a lake. She remembered seeing it on the map, she contently listened as he spoke about his past well the short version, mine I don’t think you want to hear but I will tell, my family is rich and they own one of the best pleasure, barrel horse farms, well everything was normal I thought I found my one true love so I moved in with him, we were engaged and he wanted me to settle down and be a stay at home mom, she paused for a moment before continuing, I was not ready for that so we got into a fight and I left in my car not knowing he was following me until he hit me, that was six months ago Spirit is one of my parents top sires offspring they gave him to me after I had some what healed hoping he would help me heal the rest of the way. She shrugged slightly and looked around looking for a path, which she soon spotted, she pointed up that path. That is all she said she really did not like talking about her past but she wanted to make a good impression, so she shared and now she was waiting for the all to familiar words.

He listened, not making any noise as he turned down the path. Fuego seemed to understand that someone was talking about something important, and behaved quite well. Although after she got off who knew how he would. He'd probably go back to being a dumbass again. Well, I can't top that one but I got my high school girlfriend pregnant and we married right after high school. We have a beautiful girl, but we divorced. Now I'm trying to get my daughter back because I miss her and so does her mare, the one that I have with me. He said solemnly, as he was speaking the memories of his little girl floating across his mind. A tear started to form in his eye but it quickly disappeared. He did not show emotion because that showed weakness, that it did. All of a sudden a loud crack sounded and he felt Fuego tense up. Hold on! He stated quickly, hoping she was fast enough as all of a sudden the gelding took off, frightened by the noise. The wind whipped past and a small ditch was in front of them. He quickly pulled on the reins, but the bit was doing nothing. He did not know if they were both going to make it over. In two strides they would be there. Finally, a sharp pull with the rein and he slowed to a quick stop, right there in front of the ditch. I'm sorry about that. He said, truly apologetic.

She laughed a little, I think yours is up there along with mine but its good to know that you are trying to get her back. She smiled and relaxed a little bit more, he said nothing more until a loud cracking sound was herd, he told her to hold on she took her cowboy hat off and put it between them all the while grabbing around his waist, which to her was awkward in its ways, they were nearing a ditch and then they stopped, she let go of his waist, no its fine im fine just a little pain but nothing bad as long as we are still alive and not on the ground its fine. She gave a little laugh and stuck her hat back on her head, and just like that her stallion came wandering down the path probably wondering were his owner was, she shook her head and hopped off Pablo’s horse grabbing her horses reins and mounting again, thanks she smiled and walked a little near him, her blue green eyes twinkling, so do you want to continue this trail ride together? She jiggled the reins getting her horse to set his head some what nice it was better then nothing, she looked up at him and waited.

When Sammie got off of him, Fuego turned right back into his normal self. Seeing the stallion, he threw his ears back. I swear, it seems like you were proud cut. Pablo scratched his neck again before bending and messing with his forelock. Fuego shook his head, annoyed with his owner now. He knew he'd never be able to get Fuego to do that, however he was more a trail buddy and a competitive trail horse than anything too big. Finally, as if seeing no threat from the outlying source of his anger, he finally just twirled his ears, listening for any noise that could mean danger. Pablo rolled his eyes. His parents were right he got the oddball out of the bunch. He shrugged. Yeah, that's fine. Tightening up the reins to make sure that the gelding did not try anything too spontaneous. Fuego started pawing, wanting to race this stud and show him who really is boss in this house. Because it wasn't him, not in the least.

Sammie relaxed a little on the reins but still tighten enough that he could not take off. She held him still looking at Pablo and trying to figure out if he should go first or if she should, So Pablo what is your horses name and what do you do with him? Spirit does barrels and im hopping to get one of my parents Western pleasure stallions, when they have one ready to go. She smiled, You should probably go first and I will kind of tag along on the side or in the back. She slightly pulled back on the reins making Spirit back up, she had most of these maneuvers learned to get him settled in the ally before they came out to run the barrel course, how ever there were just some days when he would not listen and was a complete ass. She stopped him and waited for Pablo to take the lead.
