The trailer shook with the irritated stomping of the buckskin mare inside. She was so tired of strangers, of changing hands. She knew where she was, she could smell the familiar auction house from inside her metal enclosure. She tossed her head, letting a loud whinny echo throughout the trailer. Get me out of here already!
A stranger approached her, grabbing her lead as he did with every other horse that passed through these gates. He had worked these auctions for a long time now, and every time someone just wanted a horse off their hands without regard for where it ended up, he was the one they handed it to. He was stoic as he lead the mare to the small auction ring where her fate would be decided.
Penny looked around her; she was calm, not because she knew what would happen, but because her handler was. She trusted, maybe too easily, the wisdom of the two legged. If they were collected, why shouldn't she be? After all, they were the ones in charge, the ones who said when she should go outside and when she should stay inside, when she should exercise and when she should eat.
The stranger lead the tank of a little mare through the ring, the announcer trying his best to make her sound worth purchasing. After all, she was a fine specimen of a horse. However, unlike most of the horses there, she had no starting bid, no P/O, her most recent owners just wanted her gone. This made her seem suspicious, made potential buyers skeptical.
They had done little to clean her up for the auction, but she looked as magnificent as she ever did. Her dark buckskin coat had a natural sheen to it, and her short but stocky frame was heavily muscled. Despite her strength she had a feminine face and a kind eye, her ears perked forward eagerly listening to the world around her as she waited for her fate.

Taylor had already been at the Auction once and bought herself a Mustang Stallion. Now she was back just to find a house to ride until she got her other horse working and well just something to compete with aswell and have a bond with another wonderful animal. Taylor had already parked her old chevy truck and her beat up stock trailer. It wasn't that great in shape since Lucky got in there and really it wasn't before he got in there either. She wasn't rich person and this truck adn trailer was passed down to her from her older brother's so it rumbled loudly and pulled like a beast. Which Taylor didn't mind one bit really.
Taylor walked through the Auction Block door's as she found a place to stand. She had already bought a number and now was just waiting for a horse to step in to catch her eye. It must had taken forever cause when she saw the small Buckskin mare Taylor almost fell to the floor. She could tell she was small, but stocky. She had that Baby doll face that she loved and the eye that you could trust and give you a look that you can't say "no" too. Which was hard for Taylor to do anyways. Taylor watched as the young mare just stood there watching what was happening. Taylor knew she needed this mare so she raised her hand and yelled" $250!"[/b] She yelled and the bidding began. But hardly anyone wanted this mare. She couldn't understand this mare would be like a beast at the rodeo's and a beast in the reining pen. But Taylor wasn't sure about barrels yeah they was fun,but Cutting and Reining was her sport. Rodeo was the second best thing though. So she waited to see if anyone said anything and watched as people saw her once agian and it was the same people."What little miss that Stallion to much for you?" Taylor just smiled."No sir, Just gotta get me alittle more horse's to work with."She grinned and watched to see what the auctioneer would say. [/size]

Delicate, black tipped ears perked at a distinct noise rising above the murmer of the crowd. Penny turned her head to find the sound, russet pools resting upon a small female. No longer shouting, she was conversing with the males around her. Tawny mare snorted, watching her carefully. She looked different from the other two legs around her, she couldn't tell what she was saying, but it seemed to have had an impact on the rest of the crowd. Was she important? Before she could decide, her attention snapped to the other side of the ring as the auctioneer announced that she was sold. The man holding her lead smiled finally, giving the buckskin a pat on the shoulder as he lead her out of the ring. He tipped his hat to the young lady who had undoubtably saved the mare's life. He couldn't spot him in the crowd, but he had seen the truck in the parking lot indicating that the local kill buyer was in attendance. Penny followed along quietly as the stranger lead her back to the pen where she would be held until her new owner would pick her up, leadrope swinging between them with every step.
She stood quietly in the pen, large brown pools following the people as they passed by. Harks flicked lazily back and forth, picking up bits and pieces of conversation, the gibberish that the twoleggeds seemed so fond of emitting bouncing around the auction barn. She cocked a hoof, shifting her weight to one side as she watched the world around her, wondering what would happen next.
