about Cloud Nine
Standing an intimidating seventeen hands SBE Cloud Nine paints a fiercely dramatic picture of balance, power, and strength. He has an intelligent eye on a beautiful head, attached to a balanced neck and explosively powerful shoulder. He is deep in the barrel, solid in the hip, and his legs are straight and strong. SBE Cloud Nine is ready to put winners on the track, in the most unusual colors ever seen today.
temperament of a Stallion
Despite his obvious size and power, Cloud Nine possesses a calm demeanor and gentle attitude both in the stables and the breeding shed. His kind and quiet personality makes him a favorite of guests and children alike. But don't be fooled-in the show ring this stallion is an aggressive competitor. He fights viciously for his ribbons and will stop at nothing to win.
how he came to Be
Sired by the legendary Puchilingui, one of the most prolific color producers known to the Thoroughbred world, no one was quite sure what to expect out of the sweet Palomino mare standing with her pregnant belly out in her field. Nearly a month overdue at 367 days, her caretakers where beginning to worry. She showed no signs of getting ready to foal, the owners gave her a pat and retired.
In the earliest hours of the morning, she began to kick at her belly. Restless and sure her foal was due, she began to prepare for what would be a quick and easy birth. On the dawn of the 368th day, twenty-eight days overdue, a vigorous Palomino Sabino colt took his first steps on the dewy grass, immediately nosed around for a teat, suckling himself into an exhausted sleep.
The little colt, born just a little late, then grew into a playful weanling. As a yearling he showed a deep scope and power, his stride as long and powerful as that of his sires. As a two year old he exhibited a willingness, a certain quickness to learning. The decision was made not to race him, he was too valuable as a stud to risk on the dangerous track where so many horses broke down.
By the time he was three he had already surpassed his mother in height, she stood only 16hh even, and stood an inch taller than his 16.2hh father. He would certainly stop growing now, everyone agree'd, and the strong young stallion was sent into training to become a jumping and Dressage mount.
At five he stood his final mature height of 17hh and was powerhousing his way through the Second Level Dressage tests and shows. At show jumping competitions he overjumped most everything put in his way, surging over each obstacle as if it was no more than a pile of twigs.
It was then he loving owners contracted a serious illness, and the promising young stallion was offered to the right buyer. But how, just how, a young gentleman from the backwoods of Missouri managed to obtain such a horse...that, is still a mystery.
