For the Pair: 1000
The man watched as the pair trotted in unison down the fenceline while people were passing, watching the two also. Chocolate Shaik, the dam, was on the outside, but you could see two pairs of smaller legs and a stomach sticking out underneath her where the filly kept pace. But soon enough Chocolate Kyss broke the pattern and went into a fast canter, bucking and squealing. A trot was just too slow, oh yes, a canter was SO much better. Shaik called back to her sternly as she slowed to a walk, and the rambunctious filly came back reluctantly, snorting before attacking a fly that was on her rib cage. Three months, and still just as active and curious about everything. Oh, how her old owners took care of her, who knows. The mare, on the other hand, was low maintenance, hardly any work at all. They would miss her, but they needed to downsize. Believe them, this pair were the last to go.

Did he really need any more horses? Well, maybe. He only had Chester, really. No boarders had come to his newly opened stable, so it was just he, Chester and Achilles up at the homestead. He needed something to do. Perhaps an unbroke horse. Or a foal. Something he could train, and spend time with. Not that he didn't want to spend time with Chester, just that Chester was already done with his training and there was only so much practicing to be done in a day. The large, rangy dog trotted smoothly at his side, looking around. Sandy-coated hound had his mouth open, large pink tongue lolling out the side as he took in his surroundings. He was still young, but very obedient to everything Edward said, and always watching out for his much-beloved master. It was rare for Eddie to keep him on a leash, but at the sales barn, he took caution. A pretty, almost chestnut mare was trotting smoothly around a ring. She was short, a little stocky, but perfect for Western riding, a good solid Quarter Horse. A little filly the same color darted from her mother's side, frolicking before being summoned back to the dam's side. A smile crossed Eddie's face. This pair was perfect. And once the filly was weaned, he couldn't see a reason why he couldn't breed the mare. Eddie walked over to the fence, leaning on it a bit after commanding Achilles to sit at his feet. The dog became a statue, only sometimes looking around or flicking his large ears. Stretching out a hand, Eddie clicked to the mare, trying to get her attention to determine her temperament. Perhaps if she was a sweet little mare, he could maybe give lessons. No real plans yet though, he would have to wait and see.

A noise? A noise? Where? HEY A NOISE! It came from...THERE! That floppy-eared dork right there! Kyss bounded toward them, but her real attention was on the dog. It was sooo small! A smile crossed her muzzle as she brought her head down, trying to somehow fit it through the bars to get a little closer to the dog. Just a little closer and she'd be able to touch this thingy that was so intriguing!
Whoa, where was she going NOW? Shaik heard the clicking sound and looked over, seeing a human there. Her ears perked but she kept a wary eye on Shaik, wanting to make sure that she did not get into any trouble. She loved her, and she would always love her. But come on now, she never listened! A sigh was emitted from her lips as she trotted over, wanting to see who this human was. A sharp nip was placed on Kyss's flank as she passed by. She stopped and sniffed at the hand, making sure there wasn't anything funky on it. Finally, after a thorough inspection of it which included multiple bumpings and a little bit of licking because the salt was just that good she took a few steps closer, making sure to keep an eye on both Eddie and Kyss. If she could she'd keep an eye on the other animal too.
MOM, do you not see that we have company! Why do you have to do that? Kyss thought, becoming a little frustrated. She just wanted to play with him, that's all. Maybe if she stuck a leg through the bars, maybe that'll work. The human, eh, she's seen those around. But this, this was AMAZING! Whatever it was.

Eddie smiled as the filly bolted over, attention completely focused on Achilles at his feet. The big golden dog, leaned forward, ears up, curious as to what the small horse was doing. Nose twitching, he reached forward, poking his muzzle through the bars, keeping an eye on the mare in case she decided he was getting to close to the foal. After a good sniff, he leaned back, cocking his head to the side as he observed the determined filly. Eddie just shook his head, watching that Achilles was gentle with the young one, before his attention was taken by the mare as she inspected him. She seemed like a sweetheart, and another smile crossed his lips as he began to stroke the satin nape. His eyes traced her figure, noting her pretty conformation, very neat and well put together. She would be perfect. And the filly was a laugh indeed, as she tried to get to Achilles. Eddie didn't move to touch her yet, knowing that it would be awhile before he should try. Mares were very protective, and he wanted to make sure this one trusted him. Being bitten by an angry mom would not be fun. Having made up his mind to purchase the pretty pair, he now looked around for someone, anyone. The owner, perhaps stablehand, or even one of the people that sold the horses that came through if the owners couldn't themselves. No one yet, but he could wait. He wanted these two and wasn't about to walk away for someone else to snag. Eddie leaned against the fence, one hand lightly stroking the shining neck of the mare, his dark eyes just searching for someone.

Look at that! The thing can stick his head in the bars but I can't? Why? I have such a horseface! She shook her head as she finally looked up at the human with a curious look in her eyes. Her creamy tiny mane shook but hardly moved as a fly landed on her neck. Her tiny tail beat her hindquarters to and fro. This was so much fun, she wanted to do it everyday!
Shaik felt the hand upon her and she gave off a small nicker. She made sure to keep an eye on little Kyss though, otherwise she might disappear and never come back, having found a new family that she finds more interesting. She loved the little bugger, however there were times when she gave her a grand old headache. She nipped the little filly again as she tried putting her whole self through the boards this time. Finally, she figured it was time to leave these two alone because Kyss might devise a plan to grow wings and fly over. She trotted away, giving Kyss a look that showed she best follow.
So you like the pair eh? Said an elderly old man who walked up, watching the two as they trotted away to go do whatever. They're good, but the little flicka can be quite a handful. I pity the man who has to break her. He leaned against the fence, a little tuckered out from his walk through the barns looking at the horses that were for sale. There were some that caught his eye, but not many.

Eddie was too busy watching the lively pair to notice anyone approaching until an older man nearby spoke, his eyes also on the mare and filly. In response to his words, Eddie nodded his head. Yes, sir. But she's a good little one, pretty as a peach. There were many pretty horses here today, but none had caught his eye like these two. They would be wonderful additions, the mare a sweet girl, the filly would bring a smile to anyone's face. Taking his eyes from the two horses, a questioning look crossed his face. Are you their owner? I'm interested in purchasing them to bring to my stable. Achilles whined, his thick tail beating the ground, wanting to run with the little filly. She seemed like so much fun! He leaned forward once more, watching through the fence. Eddie looked down at him, reaching to touch his head, a silent order to stay put and not to slip through the fence, which he probably wanted to do. The great dog heaved a groaning sigh, sliding down onto his belly, large head placed upon his paws, still watching and yearning to run and play.

Shaik looked over and saw her owner. She let out a nicker and trotted toward him, turning into a lope as she rounded off the corner and finally pulled up next to him. She stretched out toward him, looking for her daily treat. She looked over, watching as Kyss looked over at the dog again, wanting to play with him because mom was just that boring. And the dog, it looked like he really wanted to play. She trotted gaily over, not really caring who was around. All that mattered was the dog. He was so cool! She let out a nicker, more like a whine than anything, trying to persuade him to come on in and have a race. Anything really she just wanted to get to know him that's all. The man chuckled at Kyss before giving Shaik a mint. Yep they're mine. Its 1000 for the pair. He said, looking at the two with some sadness. A part of him was hoping that they would not sell. Unfortunately he needed the money. So it was a battle between love and family. Of course, family won out.

Eddie smiled as the mare came over, obviously begging. The filly was obviously captivated by Achilles, who whined again, wanting to play with the happy flicka, but respecting Eddie's command to stay where he was. Eddie looked at the older man as he fed the mare a treat. He obviously loved the pair, not that Eddie could blame him. They seemed like a sweet duo. Done. Eddie pulled out his checkbook, writing a swift check out for the two horses, leaving the name blank for the man to fill in. A big smile crossed his face as he looked upon his two new horses. He liked them already, and was sure that as time went on he would adore them even more. Achilles obviously already liked the filly, and the mare was a cuddler, it seemed. Seeing the sadness on the man's face, he reached out to put a hand on his shoulder briefly, speaking quickly. I will take good care of them. I value and love horses as much as the next man. A swift, reassuring smile crossed his face as he pulled back, turning his attention back to the pair. A blank look crossed his face as he realized that he had no idea what their names where. What are their names?

He took the check, knowing this was the last of his farm. That hurt more than anything, really. He would miss his farm very much, but he would get used to it. A lot more leisure time, at least. To hell with leisure time actually. He'd earn enough money again to start purchasing again, but maybe not anything too big that would cost too much. He folded the check before patting Shaik again with a tear glistening in his eye but he wiped it away quickly. He listened to his words but he already knew that, if Eddie didn't like them, the dog was too infatuated with the filly to let anything happen to her. This one's Chocolate Shaik. He said, tickling the mare's muzzle. And that is Chocolate Kyss. He said, nodding toward the filly. Kyss listened to the dog's high pitched whining and shook her head before coming back to him. But he wasn't moving so she snorted before nippinng at her mom and then taking off, head low to the ground and speed gracing her frame. She slid to a quick stop before turning around, ears perked and doing it again. Well, it was something to do while waiting, right?
