He snorted and tossed his crown, feeling her nip, he took off after her and took the long way the back way so she could not see him. He made it up the hill quickly and nipped her on the rump, right back at you he spoke as he flew past her and down the hill. Hiding in the woods and then coming back out to stand next to Pablo and Sammie, then he moved to the side and tossed his crown, crossing the stream he skidded to a halt next to a large tree and waited for her to come and get him, his sides were barely heaving he was in the best shape of his life and he would not have it any other way.
She chuckled at the horses antics, and then looked back at Pablo, she smiled that is the sweetest thing I have ever herd it always use to be you lazy cow get up and make me dinner and do this and do that and worse part was when he wanted it he got it. She shook her head, I will call them tonight and tell them, well my aunt and my mother my father just left my mother for someone younger, she put her hand up don’t question it I did not want to get into with her because she would tell all the details and I don’t want all the details. She smiled and then chuckled, I know they will be happy. She took his hand in hers and kissed him again she liked this a lot and it would never change, they would have each other forever.

Flit watched him run away, a smile playing on her face. No, wait, was it really a smile? Or was it just a figment of her imagination? She figured it had to be a smile. Jogging down the hill, she did not follow too fast, not wanting to spoil much of her energy. Her long legs carried her toward the creek gracefully, and she stopped for a second to take a quick drink, all the while making certain that Caillou was not moving anywhere else. All of a sudden she skidded backward, letting out a neigh as something jumped into the water. She reared up, unknown of what the thing was, the whites of her eyes showing!
----
Gotta follow my nose, follow my nose, follow my nose. That’s what my mom always told me. It would take me wherever I wanted to go. Oomph, I tripped. I’ve been doing that a lot lately. But it would not stop me oh no! Because I am DYNO-PUP! Willing to take anything on! Anything I can beat, that is. Which is, of course, everything. Because I’m cool, I’m sly, and I’m smart. Kitties ain’t got nothin’ on me, oh no sirree. I trotted gaily through the forest. Well my master never told me to stay, now did he? Nope not at all. So I figure that meant to follow, but they had such longer legs than me and I couldn’t keep up. Soon I will though. Soon I will be BIG AND STRONG, and then I will be MIGHTY PUP! I think I’m getting close, I know I am. I watched as Caillou ran away from the other horse. I wanted to play! It must have to do something with water. I watched as the other horse, whatever her name is, drank it. Now was my chance, I must pounce. Running, I tripped and fell and rolled with the halter still in my mouth. Now for real. HER COMES BANDIT READY FOR THE KILL AND KABLAM, well that hurt, wasn’t expecting that. I got out and shook off, tail wagging as I looked up at my best friend.
----
Bandit! Pablo yelled, his attention diverted when Flit freaked and he saw a sodden puppy across the creek. What in the world?! He exclaimed, getting up and wiping his pants off. He noticed Caillou’s halter and shook his head. That damn pup. He walked down to the water’s edge. Flit had calmed down some, although she was still breathing hard. He knew she was thinking the same thing he was. He rolled his eyes as he watched the pup just stare at Caillou, tail wagging, wanting to play. I’m sorry Sammie, but I think your horse really did affect Bandit. He thinks more and more that he is a horse. [/blockquote]

Ah man, Caillou cringed as he saw the pup coming towards her, he tried to warn her but it was to late the pup went splat into the water only to come out next to him staring at him. Caillou lowered his head and cringed back into the shadows. He did not want to know what was going to happen, his ears flopped to the side and he hid himself more in the shadows. He then turned and bolted, fearing his life he ran hard and fast like his life depended on it. There was a tiny gap that he would have to jump so he picked up speed and hit the edge pushing off, landing on the other side he kept going and going until he could go no more and by now the stallion was so lost he could not find his way back nor did he know were he was. He herd a growl near him and when it emerged from the shadows and tried to attack him he threw it against a tree and started to run again hitting the deepest part of the forest. His mind was else where, that was until the ground gave way and he fell into a massive hole, he called out but his attempts were lost he was going to die in this hole!
---
Sammie watched Caillou as he pushed himself farther back, she stood quickly no Caillou stay you are not in trouble, don’t do it. She was just getting ready to cross the creek when he bolted, shit. She spoke and pinched the bridge of her nose, she knew back that way had wolfs, and was really dense with trees it also had old holes filled in that were used for mining. Hes going to die or fall into a hole and then die. Her stallion was going to die in a hole possibly, she sat down because she felt sick to her stomach, when we find him we are going to solve this problem once and for all its either we try training Bandit or I sell Caillou to my friend. She shook her head, that should solve the problem. She stood and dusted off her pants, well hopefully they would find Caillou un harmed, she was sure he was going to be sore and tired and shaken up that should be the worst of it but how did she know. She sighed this day had gone from bad to good to the best and then to the worse.

Flit looked at the little dog, her ears back and her teeth bared. Watching Caillou run away, she bolted through the river and toward the same path that he took, quickly swerving around any trees. She let out a neigh, looking frantically in both directions. She could hear something, but it was very faint. She let out another. What the heck was she doing? She did not chase after stallions, and yet here she was. Caillou! she called, jogging in a circle, trying to figure out where he was. Her heart was pounding within her chest to the point to where it hurt. Sweat was forming on her coat, more out of anxiety than anything. A game of tag gone wrong. How in the world could this happen?! That damn dog! He needed to go, just go. He was ruining everything! Her hooves pounded across the ground as she let out another neigh. The forest was growing into more of a jungle, she could feel the scraping of branches against her skin, but she could care less. She smelled the distinct stench of something evil, but abandoned it. She could care less. She stopped for a second to listen to see if she could hear him.
-------------
Pablo watched as Caillou ran off, and adrenaline kicked in, but he kept himself calm. Someone needed to be. Bandit! Go home now! He yelled, anger and frustration coursing through him along with the adrenaline rush. He started going toward his mare, but all of a sudden she disappeared in a splash of water and then all he saw was her tail disappearing within the forest. Well this sucked. He pushed through his hair and listened. We are not getting rid of Caillou. Bandit will be trained. He would see to it because there was no reason for this to happen. We’ll keep the dog from the horses for a while. Keep the anger out and stay calm, he just had to keep reminding himself about that. It’ll all be okay. He said gently from behind her, his voice soft. He wanted to take her in his arms and take away all this pain and frustration that came in what felt like five seconds, but that would come later when they found their horses. What was up with Flit anyway? She was always moody with stallions, what the hell, did she want to go and check to make sure he was dead and have a celebration? [/blockquote]

He called out again and paced at the bottom of the hole, his leg was badly torn but he forced the pain from his mind and continued to pace. He was scared and becoming increasingly claustrophobic, his coat was laden in sweat and dirt. His eyes occasional rolled back to show the whites, his leg finally gave out and took him down he thrashed and stood holding the one up in the air, it just kind of dangled there lifeless. Caillou felt hopeless and utterly lost, he felt really warm in this hole it was making him overheat. He shook his crown and stared up, hearing a faint call he gave one final one before allowing himself to lay down, there was no way he was going to make out of this alive, there was no way they were going to hear his calls and so he closed his eyes for a nap becoming exhausted from everything.
------------------------------
Sammie stood and dusted off her jeans as Flit went the way Caillou had gone. She sighed in utter frustration and ran her hand threw her hair, it will have to work, I fear I am going to have to retire Caillou depending on how bad he is hurt if any thing, but we are going to have to be really careful to make sure Bandit does not sneak out. She shut her eyes and pinched the bridge of her nose before opening her eyes and walking over to him, I know everything in the end will be fine I just have to hear it and see it to make sure Caillou is the one who helped me move on there is something about him. She smiled and gave him a hug before taking his hand and heading into the creek to cross it, so they could go find their horses after this she was just going to go home care to Caillou if needed and then collapse on the bed from the long day.

Flit glanced around. She heard it again, this time it was closer. Before she lost the directions she quickly went that way. The smell of wolves were thick, but she could care less. Her sides were heaving and were covered in sweat, lathering up. She had not worked this hard in a while. Caillou! she called again, still traveling in the path that they were going. The flies were buzzing around her and seemed thick, almost like a wall, but she still made it through. She had to be getting close. The smell of Caillou was getting thicker along with the wolves, but she kept going, hoping, praying that she would get there within a few minutes. Hold on Caillou… she murmured as she kept going, her legs starting to burn for the lack of oxygen that was getting to them. Then she heard something, the pounding of paws against the leaves. Shit. Now she hoped she was not getting close.
Pablo squeezed her hand, just following her toward the forest. Well he was not expecting to get a bath today, but hey, who knows when one will come. First, a homecoming. Then a bad storm. Then being together. Then seeing the damage. Go out riding, propose, get engaged, lost the horses. Well there really was no such thing as a boring day, right? Looking around, he knew the horses could be anywhere by now. There was no way of getting through the forest in a motorized vehicle. Do you wanna go grab a couple of other horses and try to get in there or do you just want to walk? He was a little worried about the predators that could sulk within the night. That wasn’t including the snakes and ticks that hid in the long weeds. [/blockquote]

He could not hear anything any more he was out cold at least one could tell he was still breathing. Nothing lurked above him but he could feel them moving threw the woods. He woke and raised his crown letting a call go into the dusk and forest. He sighed and fell back to sleep nothing seemed to be helping his moral any more, he had lost his hope and his faith.
She felt his squeeze as the crossed the creek, they were faced by a wall of trees and tall weeds and grasses. She had to think for a moment and in the end decided it was not best to more horses at risk. She sighed, no lets just walk it, I don’t feel like putting any more horses at risk tonight. It was a hard chose with horses you could cover the ground but Barbary was not even close to being able to be ridden out here, he would for sure hurt himself and Sammie even if there was a care in his heart. She walked ahead, howls from a far echoed across she just wanted to find theses horses and get the hell out of here it was creepy and scary to things she did not care for. She jumped as a bird flew past, she rested her hand on her chest stopping to catch her breath, she could not hear a thing and that worried her slightly, Pablo I don’t think I can do this, this place gives me the creeps. She was going to start panicking and Hyperventilating, it was to much like that night, it was to much like any night with that guy. She shook her head and focused on calming down.

Flit glanced behind her quickly, hooves striking the ground and making indentations as she scrambled through the trees, tripping over the roots which slowed her down. She could hear them, she could hear them behind her. They were catching up. They knew these woods better than she. This could be the last thing she would do. Yes she knew that this was a crazy thought, but this was the worst case scenario. At least she met Caillou. The one word slowed her adrenaline down a little bit and helped her think straight. These other four-leggeds could make quick turns better than she, but she had hooves while they had teeth and sharp claws. She had strength when they had endurance. There was one of her and who knew how many there were of them. She just had to concentrate. They were getting closer and one leapt. She quickly stopped and bucked, flicking the wolf to the side but a nail caught her side and she charged ahead. They needed to stop. She could not waste her breath by calling out, maybe to warn Caillou, but she had not heard him, and she doubted that he heard her.
Pablo looked around as it became more dense, wondering how they were ever going to find them. The only thing they could really look for were hoof prints. It was going to be like finding two needles in a haystack. It was dark inside here, the leaves bunching together to block out the sun. He heard the bird and shifted to the side instinctively, watching as it flew away. His eyes looked at Sammie, and concern quickly overcame about her. Standing in front of her, he blocked the rest of the dark forest from her. He rubbed his hands up and down her upper arms. Mi amor, He said softly, the Spanish slipping out, You don’t have to go any farther if you don’t want. But just know I’m right here, right beside you, and I won’t let anything happen to you. He hoped that she believed him, because he wouldn’t. He would give his own life before letting anything happen to Sammie. [/size]

He had awoken a new strength found with in him, he could not take it any more. He could hear her hoofs hitting the ground and those of a softer kind. Wolfs! He squealed and stood begin to pace he did not care if he made his leg worse he had to get out of here! He needed to jump, he needed to help Flit! He looked at the hole looking for the lowest side and it was clear that the right side had fallen in more and it would not be hard to clear, so he backed up as far as he could and got enough speed and jumped, landing were he had wanted to he stumbled slightly due to his leg, but it had stopped bleeding and it was not like the bone was broken just a really deep cut that was trying to heal and he was going to tare it right open to get to Flit. He reared a call leaving deep with in him it was quite loud, he landed and decided to wait he could hear that she was really close and he was going to make sure she did not fall down that hole like he had.
Sammie took a couple deep breaths and listened to his words, she knew it was true. She nodded and closed her eyes, slowing her breathing down quite a bit. She stepped near him and rested her head on his shoulder, then she herd a call that could only come from one horse. She stepped back, she knew where Caillou was now and that meant that Flit must be going that way to. Come on I know were they are I can get us there quicker. She turned right instead of the left that would lead them threw wolf country, she knew that is were they had gone, she lead him threw an area that was less dense easier to see and then it turned back into the same scare dark dense forest.
She shook her head to keep her mind clear and then finally, she came to a slightly clearing and there was Caillou next to a hole, so now where was Flit? Sammie stopped and looked around, she could see where Caillou was looking and she knew that he knew she was coming, she looked at the stallion and noted his leg, she dropped Pablo’s hand and walked over to the stallion who seemed to snap out of his trance when he felt his owners touch, he tried to get away fearing he was still going to get in trouble but the slap never came, he relaxed and let her look at his leg and then the rest of his body which had a few scratches here and there, well you may be sound enough to tail ride but not enough to show. She shook her head and stared off where he was staring waiting for Flit. [/size]

Her lungs were on fire as she tried to catch her breath, more carbon dioxide leaving than oxygen being gained. The branches struck at her sides at a rapid fire as she tripped, trying to regain her footing before feeling claws tearing at her skin and teeth trying to grasp her flesh. She bucked frantically, letting out a squeal as she caught one out of the side of her vision. No, this was not going to be it! She was not going to die this way! Her black and white hide was draped in sweat as she stumbled again over protruding roots. She snapped at one wolf as finally the one let go of her hindquarters and blood started to dribble out of the wounds and the sweat stung them, though she could hardly care about it. These damn wolves had more stamina than she had. Her legs were really starting to burn, and she was ready to collapse, but she could not. Then she heard the welcoming sound. A neigh from Caillou. She could not get the breath to neigh back, to warn him, to tell him to get out of here. These pups were nipping at her heels, but they did not know who they were messing with. She was nearing the clearing where Caillou was, and then she heard a female voice. The owner. She knew Pablo would be near if Caillou’s guess had been correct in them being in love. She turned swiftly, her side scraping against the bark of the tree. She could not let these pests near them, she did not know what they would do. Some of the wolves stopped, but a couple rogues were still following, and gathering swiftly. She kicked in high gear, which took much of her breath before finally slowing down, hoping to confuse them with a few turns this way and that to try and confuse them. One made the stupid move and grabbed at the top of her hind leg. His teeth sunk in and she sent out a kick and he tumbled through the air and as she stepped on the leg she sunk down, her full weight not being supported. She let out one call with her remaining breath, more of a goodbye than anything, and hoped it would reach Caillou. This was it. She knew it.
Pablo followed, looking around, a little tense. This place could hold just about anything, and his lip curled a tiny bit as he followed. He pushed back at his hair and it stuck up in all directions as dribbles of sweat started to form on his forehead, and he wiped it away with the back of his hand. Well this was definitely one adventure. One that he was hoping to never go on again, for starters. Finally he caught sight of Caillou, and a momentary relaxation started in before he noticed that there was no Flit. He figured they would be together, but there was no such reward there. His heart started yammering in his chest. He had promised his mother that she would be safe, and within the first day he had broke that promise. He looked over at Caillou before in the direction that he was looking, hoping, praying that Flit was hiding just beyond. He walked toward the area, slowly, looking beyond the shrubbery, hoping to catch a glimpse of the familiar coat. And there it was, a mixture of blood where it was coming out on her hindquarter as she turned away. He heard the sound of the muffled hooves against the ground and something even more quieter. A pair of eyes were staring out at them before disappearing. Flit! he yelled, a bit of anguish in there as he could no longer see her, but he could not risk his own life to try and save her. That his mother would call just downright stupid. But still, he wished he could help, he wished that he could just seize her, but that was just too much. [/blockquote]

Caillou squirmed has he herd her call it sound like good bye and there was no way in hell he would let that ever happen. He ripped his head away from his owners grip. He could her hear mutter and cussing has he had just given her hand a nice leather burn, he tore off not caring if his leg was going to brake back open and bleed he had to save Flit! He squealed as he saw her, wolves ever where he took a few down in a quick hurry and the leader was included, there seemed to be a mixture of calls from each wolf as they turned and high tailed it out of there. He moved over to Flit, touching her cheek and nibbling her neck softly. He noted the blood and how coated in sweat she was, he nibbled the length of her spine happy to see her again. He had to figure away to get her back, he nudged her and turned. If you need to lean against me and I will get us back I promise.
Sammie was not expecting the stallion to pull any more stunts but he prved her wrong by ripping free of her grip, giving her a nice stinging pain or a leather burn from his bridle, shit, fucking horse, ah it fucking hurts. The list of words just seemed to flow freely from her mouth as she gripped her hand and focused away from the pain or at least trying. Her gaze set on Pablo it was not meant to be mean but it was, she would have to apologize for it later but right now she was fuming. She bit her lip and looked down at the ground, Pablo do something. She hissed the words and stomped a booted foot into the ground, fucking bridle, fucking horse. She muttered again softly so he would not hear, she would make it all better later for the way she was treating him now but right now she was in pain and her horse had once again eluded capture. Flit heard something and lifted her head, seeing a happy sight between the nightmare. Her knight in shining armor. Gosh when did she become so mushy? She let her head rest back on the ground as she closed her eyes a little bit, catching her breath. She felt the scattering of the nuisances and then a welcomed touch. She let out a small nicker, happy that it was him. He heard her words and she took a deep breath before bringing her front legs out in front of her and pulling herself up, leaving her weight off her one leg. It took her a few seconds before she got the courage to try out her one leg. She put just enough pressure to hobble toward Caillou. Reaching him, she sagged against him. She did not want to, but she didn’t know how long she was going to be able to stand on her own. That was one extreme workout that she, probably both of them, had just gone through. Wolves were definitely one way to get a horse to lose some poundage. Thank you. She whispered, not able to think of anything smart or sassy to add in there.
Pablo looked behind him, for once anger starting to boil. What, do you think I wanted this? He asked before turning away, completely tense. He did not want this. All of a sudden the day had turned horribly wrong. They had two injured horses, wolves in the woods, and he knew that emotions were running high. Well that didn’t mean that she had to take it out on him, although he was the next available target seeing as stupid Caillou had to run off and play the hero. Okay, he couldn’t say that he was all mad about Caillou running off, but still he could have taken his owner with him. No, he really didn’t mean that. He started to pace, kicking at a rock and sending it into the trees where birds scattered. If you want to do something then go after them. He had full confidence in the horses’ capabilities, even if he was not too happy with their behavior today. And it was all Bandit’s fault. He was going to train that pup, he had taken his mischief too far this time. [/blockquote]

Caillou nodded, you are welcome. He spoke softly begin to walk slowly back to the clearing so as not to hurt her any more. He knew he was going to sleep well tonight there was no doubt about it, he continued on his slow walk which made his leg in agony, he gritted his teeth and he could hear the owners they were bickering, he made a mental note to A never run off again and B suck up to his owner a lot. He sighed and pushed himself to make sure she made it there, that they made it there with out an other surprises. He finally made it and came stumbling in, mare leaning against him, he sighed and turned to touch her cheek you can lay down here the wolves will not get you its to open for them. He touched her cheek again and then stuck his head under hers and moved her head to his back. He propped a hoof, the one that was hurt and waited for her to take his offer even if the wolves did return he would not let them touch or harm her.
She rolled her eyes, no I don’t think you wanted this. Sammie shook her head and turned away from him, she really just felt like throwing this chain and ring right at his head. She sighed and herd him kick a rock as it hit a tree sending birds scattering. She gripped the chain so close to throwing it at him right now, there was nothing stopping her, you know what lets just wait and see. She huffed its not like she did not trust her horse to come back it is just that she did not trust him alone with a mare he was clearly starting to fall over. She leaned against a tree, eyes set hard on him, there day had been going ok and then it took a turn for the worse well if this was not an omen of things to come, she huffed and turned to look away from him as she herd the horse coming clattering in, well would you look at that both were hurt and he had broken his leg open again. Now all that matter was how they were getting back. So smart ass how are we getting back? [/size]

Flit followed him, making sure to match his pace. She just wanted out of here, any way that they could. When they finally made it to the clearing she looked at her owner before looking at Sammie. Neither seemed too happy. Great. She rested her head on his back, her eyes closing. But what about you? She asked. She could stand here, that was fine. She cocked her own hoof, taking as much weight as she could off of it. She was not going to lie down and let him protect her when he was injured too. How in the world did they both get into this mess? She let her head slide off of his back and she pulled at his mane, this time out of affection before hobbling to stand next to him, letting their sides touch as she gently touched his cheek.
Pablo walked over toward Flit, quietly murmuring incoherent Spanish to her as he checked out her wounds. He was most concerned with the leg, and hoped the wolf hadn’t torn any muscle or anything else that might mean he would have to put her down. At least it was not broken. His anger and frustration was about to boil over, and he bit his tongue, trying to really hard not to say anything too stupid at that moment. He patted Flit’s neck before walking away, leaving the two be. He crossed his arms over his chest. You have two legs that can walk. Or do you need to be carried? He asked, looking over at her before looking at the horses. That was the only thing that he could think of they do was to walk the two back to the stables. They would have to be extra cautious and it would probably take a long time. But seeing as they could not get a vehicle out here with a trailer to load them in, walking was the next best plan. What about me? Im fine I jumped out of a hole I thought was my death our owners may not be happy but none the less. He whickered softly to her as she pulled on his mane and then touched his cheek. Caillou lowered his head slightly closing his eyes, for a small doze he needed to rest a little before he would want to carry on homeward. His ears flopped to the side something he often did when he slept however he could tell his owner was not happy and so he turned and walked over to her giving his head to her he just wanted to go he wanted to make everything better with his owner, and he wanted to make everything better with the two humans. He knew there actions had drove a wedge between the two and he was mental beating himself up for it. He looked to Flit, compassion in his eyes he would have to make some kind of attempt to see her if his owner ended up leaving before those two. Just as he thought the thought it happened Sammie tugged his bridle after her final words and they left.
Sammie had enough, she looked at him yes I have two legs and yes I can walk I don’t need to have my ass carried. She tugged on Caillou’s bridle and walked out of the clearing, she was going to take the easy way back again, she did not even think about the fact she was walking in the worse part of the forest right now, no that thought never crossed her mind she just kept walking and walking until they crossed the river. She grabbed his reins and clipped them back on making it easier to hold on to him, she also grabbed the saddle not caring if it drug slightly and then she just kept walking, still fuming about everything and how the man she loved could be such a jack ass even though she started it. She would make it all better later, as they hit the driveway she kept coxing him, he was a strong horse and as they reached the barn she dropped the saddle outside and clipped him into the wash stall, filling a bucket and letting him drink before running the water over his mess of a leg.[/size]
