Name: Kai Minna Werner
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Height: 5'2"
Physical Description:
Kai has been described as beautiful with model-like qualities (except for her short stature), but she is always known to brush those comments off. Her face is angular with a straight nose and soft curve of a chin, and not a mark or mole to blemish it thanks to those delightful acne creams and foundation. Her amber-brown eyes are slightly deep set, and almond shaped, almost always complimented with some type of makeup. Her top lip is a bit on the thin side, while her bottom lip is fuller. Eyebrows are plucked into an appropriate, curvy shape and help with her facial expressions. She is short in stature, too short in her opinion, but proportional with long legs and a thin frame. Although she is regularly exposed to the sun, her skin is only a pale peach color instead of the tan that most girls her age boast. Her hair is regularly wavy, as well as a shocking shade of pink and black, though it changes almost weekly thanks to safe, temporary hair dye.
Personality:
People's first impression of Kai once they catch a glance of her is: "Oh, look! Another one of those rebellious, loud-mouthed, little scene queen clichés!” In fact, Kai is quite the opposite of this stereotype and adheres the whole ‘scene’ movement and it’s clones that populate it. She expresses herself through her style: hair color, clothes, musical tastes- they all show who she is on the inside. Her appearance changes with her mood, the day of the week, the month, the hour, the occasion, and the weather. Contrary to popular belief, she can be found in men’s wife-beater and two-sizes-too-big sweatpants more than a vintage outfit.
Kai has been described as mad as a hatter, which only fueled her adoration for anything and everything Alice in Wonderland (especially the 2010 version!). Her family and friends are at times frightened for her, as she does not seem quite...stable. Mentally stable, that is. One moment, she’ll be happy-dandy and then the next she’ll be staring off into space with a brooding look in her eyes. She sometimes thinks too much into things, and begins to talk out loud about said things, most of which seem to have to meaning and do not relate to the activity that she is currently doing. People close to her have witnessed her outbursts of emotion that usually come out of the blue. These outbursts vary from ones of happiness-in which she usually starts giggling a bit-, ones of sadness-in which she will grow silent and occasionally cries a tad-, and ones of complete, and utter madness/anger-in which something is almost always broken in afterward or she herself scratched or bruised. Those are the worst, and they obviously put her on medication for that. Kai knew she wasn’t really going (completely) bonkers, but took the medicine in order to control her raging emotions. Naturally, the effects of them make her seem relatively normal...on the outside.
Otherwise, Kai is rather rational and has a calm outlook on life. She takes things in slowly and deals with problems herself. Though she enjoys the company of people, she is still rather awkward physically and mentally, so she is always unsure on how to carry out a conversation.
History:
In Nordhorn-Bimolten, Germany on January 1st, 1990, Kai Werner was the only child born to Dietrich and Anneliese Werner. Growing up in the country, it was easy to begin her relationship with horses and other animals immediately. Living on a quaint little farm, Kai began riding around her family’s handful of ponies at the age of four. Beginning with an older Shetland, she learned the basics of the English style in a grassy pasture behind their house. When that pony unfortunately passed away when she was eight, she jumped dramatically from a pony to a horse, and not just any horse...a young 17.2 hh black Shire gelding. Yes, a small little girl on the back of a massive Goliath of a horse, who was affectionately called, ‘Flocki(Fluffy).’
This pair seemed like a match made in heaven, both in their opinion as well as the onlookers'. They rode through the fields, down the roads, and in the show ring together for eight years together. When Kai was sixteen, she enrolled in a two-year exchange program to the United States of America. With a tearful goodbye to Flocki, she set along her merry way, loaning the draft to a nearby stable yard. Adjusting to America at her age was...somewhat difficult, but she seemed to manage it pretty well. It was around this time that people began noticing her...'insanity,' so to speak. The transition to a new high school filled with rude teenagers, let alone a new country(!) began to take it's toll on her. Kai become quieter, kept to herself, and lost any bit of grace she had gained from riding horses, turning into an overly awkward teen.
Naturally, she was the new plaything, and became friends quickly with a horde of both girls and boys. Her looks, well, got her asked out by a few guys here and there, but all were denied. She was rather conservative, and contrary to popular belief, she had a full understanding of the English language and it's slang, so she knew exactly what 'I'd tap that' meant. Unfortunately, her host family was upper class and very protective and clean. They refused to let her near a horse because they were 'dirty' and 'dangerous.' Frankly, she despised them when it came to that subject, but she somehow managed to live with it.
After her two years of the exchange were up, she had another tearful exchange with her host family, and then got on a plane and booked it back to Germany. In her absence, nothing had really changed except for the fact that Flocki had gained a bout of arthritis and was put out to pasture for a few months. Overjoyed to see each other again, Kai spent all of her available time with her best friend. After awhile of being back home, Mr. and Mrs. Werner also began noticing something off about her, but didn't pay any mind to it. Who knows what happened over in America? All went well for the next year, and a few months before her nineteenth birthday and with a load of money that she inherited from a deceased grandmother, Kai broke the news to her family: She was moving to the U.S.A. permanently. It wasn't a big shot, as they knew she didn't seem to be enjoying herself anymore. It was almost as if a piece of her had stayed behind. Within a week or two, Kai had said goodbye once more to her beloved Flocki and sold him to the nearby stable who promised to keep him until he was deceased. With bags packed and plans made for her new life in America, Kai left her family, friends, home, and country...to start a new life, one that would definitely involve horses.
Now, having lived in her apartment in America for over a year, Kai had officially settled in and had begun her hunt for a stable in her area. Finding a few, she settled on one called Cedar Creek Ranch, hoping that it would be the place for her new beginning.
